I understand what Christina is saying. Because for a long time. I didn't know I had eczema. And when I worked at a nursing home doing dishes. My skin started to react to the chemicals. I later discovered that I actually had asthma skin reaction disease. Which is connected with eczema. I had to quit because it was getting worse. After I quit working at the nursing home it started to heal. I also wasn't able to wear gloves because the sweat would react to it.

That's good to hear your hands have been healing! I have a mother with the same skin disease paired with her asthma and because she works as a cleaner in a busy hospital it has not helped at all with her hands - She's very strong willed and someone you can't keep at home, always wanting to work. Her hands however have been so poorly they look as if they will fall off any day - No cream/ pill has worked to calm the itchiness, but I just can't wait till she resigns, that's the best thing that will help her.

My son was a daredevil since the moment he could walk. As a child and teen, he had many stitches and staples quite often. As a young adult, he had to get one wrist rebuilt with titanium rods, and had surgery on both knees. He finally grew out of this when he was in his late 20’s when he got married. Now he’s a 31 yr old husband and father of a 6 mo old baby girl. So to my sisters of raising adventurous boys, I totally feel your worries and anxieties. Hang in there; you will get through this! 💕

Occurs on one side of the spinal column, and is usually as a result of reduced immunity (makes me wonder if something atypical had happened in her life just prior), arises from the chicken pox virus which most of us have had to endure. I saw one patient, being treated for cancer, who had it occur on BOTH sides of her back. (She brought in a red velvet cake for the staff, but as I have a terrible gastric reaction to red food color, I've never been able to eat any). She did recover from her shingles tho'. @sarahsnoweАй бұрын
Yes, that was my reaction. It's sad because she's disenfranchised. She won't be able to vote or even understand her rights in society. This is frequently a cultural problem: patriarchal societies that discourage women's independence, sometimes by brutal means. I grew up with a lot of Portuguese kids whose mothers and grandmothers couldn't speak English after years of living in Canada. These women rarely left the house except to shop (their embarrassed kids had to interpret for them) or go to mass. When women can't even understand their civil rights, the potential for worse abuse is obvious. Needless to say, the Catholic church did nothing to encourage their independence.
@PammellamАй бұрын
@@sarahsnowe I was also very surprised and actually shocked that the daughter had been _forced_ by her mother to marry someone in an arranged marriage and that the daughter actually went through with this arranged marriage even though they were all in the UK. She used the word forced I believe. I live in Japan and when I was younger I think probably most marriages were arranged marriages here. There were very few so-called _love_ marriages. The daughter didn’t say anything about her marriage so I suppose the marriage was fine but she did say that her mother _forced_ her into the marriage. And that it took her a long time to forgive her mother. Just a note: an arranged marriage in Japan is usually done like this: some auntie or grandmother or matchmaker finds a suitable partner for the young person, and they exchange photographs and family particulars. If the other party doesn’t like what they see in the photograph that’s the end of it. But if they want to continue, a meeting is arranged for tea and coffee with perhaps the matchmaker there and both parties. In the old days, if that was agreeable to everyone then that would be the extent of the dating. But these days after the young people meet each other and they decide they like each other they might go on some dates and decide then if they want to get married or not.

24 year old shiny new MDs are COMMON, especially in July. The steps to a doctorate level degree can be achieved in as little as 7 years post HS. The UK Medicine (and Nursing) standards are higher compared to US standards, where a brand new doctor (the "puppies") are *often* right around 24 - with a few who are *younger* because they were promoted early in HS. The US has a lot of cheaper, less trained "aids", "assistants" etc providing primary patient care now (no degree, not licenced, etc). That impacts patient care *significantly* and *negatively* - especially for patients who require care at the RN, BN or PA level. Plus they simply aren't trained in anticipating or responding to acute needs. But they are cheaper. And that's all profit driving "healthcare" cares about. Specialists move on, around age 24, to their Specialties, with complex specialties like Cardiology, Surgery, Neuro, Anesthesiology, etc taking 10-12 years.

Getting medical attention if in doubt is preferable to risking there being more serious damage that could have severe consequences if left untreated. Their brains literally can't assess risk or control impulses properly yet. Not to say they shouldn't be expected to mature or to learn from their experiences, but they're neurologically starting from a bad position in doing so.

Believe it or not I've been in the hospital so much that I've learned a few tricks and one of them is bringing essential oils or an essential oil spray because the smell of hospitals can cause serious PTSD. You think I'm joking I am not. Sometimes I'll be walking down the street and this smell will hit me and I go right back into everything I went through in the hospital and I always cringe I also learned to bring your own blanket for sure and your own pillow I've learned where to plug my phone in so that the nurses don't touch it and I buy a fresh pair of slippers before I have to go and then of course once I leave the hospital those slippers go into the trash you don't want to track that stuff home😊❤ now if you end up in a hospital without meaning to like there's an emergency and you couldn't pack all that stuff just ask your loved ones for that stuff and of course they'll bring it to you❤ don't be embarrassed by asking for these things in the hospital that make you comfortable! they can all piss off😂❤

Kinda interesting because I like hospitals. My life course was interesting because when I was a child I was sickly and my mom would have had to take me to the doctor constantly but didn't. As ayoung adult I was in and out of hospitals for about 10 years coming very close to passing away several times - I always felt clinicians would take good care of me and they always answered my questions honestly so I learned a lot. Originally, I didn't work in that industry and never had any intentions to work in healthcare, but I ended up getting a temporary position in a medical research firm and my personal experiences gave me insight to understand the overall picture and be able to apply a few disperate areas to make things successsful for my clients and I've been in healthcare ever since.

A prepared hospital "to go" bag is a *COMMON PRACTICE* in families with anyone complex. Spraying EO in a public place could kill other patients or staff who have severe allergies. Promoting harmful behaviour is selfish. If you have *legitimate* mPTSD, then get care for it, and stop using it as an excuse to pollute public places with a selfish, harmful comfort measure.
@tigress63Ай бұрын
@@kpl-CA After working in hospitals for nearly 20 years, over the years most hospitals have become scent-free. If a person does use essential oils then it is critical that literally less than half a drop be used and placed under the patient's nose outside of the hospital setting so it has time to set so it does not affect other patients and a N95 mask worn if the ptsd is severe. Generally they will not allow scented sprays except for the odour eliminators that they carry for washrooms and patient areas after changing adult diapers. Certain patients excrement is some of the foulest stuff one can smell aside from someone with gangrene. Insofar as a smell of a hospital, most hospitals have extremely good HEPA systems and I can vouch that every hospital that I've been in uses these systems to ensure that airborne pathogens are not spread and odors are quickly eliminated - even in old hospitals because that is part of hospital certifications. Now a dental office, that's completely another thing and I can identify with the ptsd and dental smells, but never do I bring any sort of scents there.

@@tigress63 I'm very well aware, with 40+ years of experience, plus two medically complex kids. Every hospital professional and "frequent flier" is utterly sick & tired of EO shills slithering in our homes (yes hospitals are often homes) and workplaces, and then claiming that their vile, greasy perfumes = "medicine". I have seen EO shills spend all day outright LYING to other patients, or spewing bigotry, blame, and ableism. It is disgusting to witness. EO shills constantly pretend they have a "right" to trespass, harass others, stink up public shared places, and endanger lives. They do not. Public, shared spaces are not just THEIRS, they belong to *ALL* people... so no stinky EOs, no peanuts, no guns, no spitting, no smoking, no abuse, etc. Nothing that harms others, regardless how some greedy EO shill type "feels" about it. (Since when do the feelings of the greedy matter more than patient & staff safety?) EO shills do NOT have a "right" to grift, lie, coerce, harass and HARM others. For their own profit. Never forget that EO shills are PROFITING off of harm.
