Unexpectedly Emotional! VoicePlay "Total Eclipse of the Heart" ft Ashley Diane

This is another one like Creep where Cesar sells the emotion so convincingly it's hard not to worry for him a little! It's just such a lovely, heartbreaking performance all around.

I’m so happy that Eli has joined the rotation for taking charge of the videos. He always brings the emotion. Aside from directing the video, he shot all the B role footage of Cesar and Ashley with Layne’s help for lighting and incidentals. (Don’t know for sure, but Layne could have been the one to hit that punching bag for the big score. It was him handing over the bear.) The arcade is in the same mall as Layne and Tony’s Pattycake Productions. (They’ve only been able to shoot there once in months due to the forest set that has been there). I don’t think they moved any of the pinball machines, but in the BTS we got to see Ashley playing that game with all the rest gathered around and all of them singing Running Up That Hill.

Ashley is amazing. The Spanish version was popular in Puerto Rico, so they incorporated bits of that version in this. And yes, she and Cesar are old friends from there. It was always an emotional song but this version really emphasises it. It hits me too. I know that VP sometimes auction off items used in their videos, other things are sometimes donated to school or other drama groups. But they do reuse many clothing items. The auctions are probably for patrons. We don't yet know whether J will return to the group but in the meantime they never miss with whatever guest they choose.

You watched this after watching Geoff’s Imagine? No wonder you’re emotional! That one gets me every time. Maybe it’s because I’m old enough to remember the original release and how poignant the song seemed. The shirts that the guys are wearing reminds me so much of my son’s favorite show when he was a kid: Saved by the Bell. The arcade is really such a typical first date kind of vibe. I really like Ashley’s lower voice in this. Usually she is singing in a higher range ( especially in Rich Man) and I love how rich her voice sounds. ( I call that technique when the percussion drops out as a Mortius drop!😂. I would’ve never noticed it before listening to reactors. But now I listen specifically to see if they’ve done it so that I can watch for it when he reacts. While you say you’re just a guy who likes music, you pointed out a lot of things that slipped right by me🤷🏼‍♀️. ) I’ve missed you and I’m glad that you’re still recording. As of Sept 29, you are at 955 so you might very well make it! I really am interested to see what you think of Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel. Deejay was the perfect guest for that !

Both Ashley and Cesar were childhood friends in Puerto Rico before their families made their way to Orlando. (By the way, VoicePlay dropped a magnificent version of Be Prepared with Mykal (an original member before he left for Broadway). Rob Dietz also did We're Good - Cesar's audition.
