After listening to Alien on repeat for a week, I think I figured out why it’s called Alien - It’s a term for feeling disconnected and alone around everyone else, feeling like a stranger. Just like in this vid, the kid feels like a stranger to his parents and when he grows up the disconnection strengthens even further. Same with Talking Heads for example, in which the protagonist feels disconnected from his own mind due to the "talking heads". This basically occurs in every song, so it should be the overall theme for the album, which would be a really cool concept.

Awesome song, so much hurt, Marcus Bridge is Even more of a hero to overcome such a shitty childhood and become the young man he is today. Onya Northlane love the new album cheers xx

You guys just, like, nailed something of a Linkin Park Redux. I can't believe my ears. By far, the best song i've ever heard all year.

This actually sounds like a song from the early 00s. Kind of like....Spineshank, Ultraspank, Filter, American Head Charge, Orgy or Celldweller.

@@andrewhare5482 The bassist/co-founder Chad Hanks passed away 2017. The singer Cameron Heacock was arrested last year for "a stolen van that housed 13 stolen guitars, nine of which were lifted from a nearby Guitar Center, according to officals. Investigators were led to a storage unit loaded with more allegedly stolen items." Pretty sad since he has an awesome voice and that kind of ruined their image.

The comparison is a compliment I reckon. Some of the good music from that era is all but forgotten. The legacy of MP3s I guess. People slowly stopped buying CDs. Music became disposable

The best melodic metalcore band for the last few years! Period. "Alien" is certainly the album of the year. This band has its own signature sound which clearly distinguish it from others. Markus is a hell of a singer, Nik's technique is impressive. Well done!

I've loved Northlane since the Discovery days and I'm honestly just so thankful they are still out there making music. Seen them live everytime and its always blown me away. I hated Node at first but after getting hooked on Mesmer when it surprise dropped I realized how godly it was. Northlane as a whole is the best gift the universe could have gave us. Each album fills every part of my soul like Exodia. Godbless you guys man
