The last 20 mins., where Mr. Lone talks about targeting of both hindus and muslims and his personal stories shed quite an illuminating light on H-M relations during 90's and beyond. In these dark polarizing times, stories of hope, resilience and warmth go a long way. Thanks, Samdish!

Muslims were not targeted for their religion but the Hindus pandits were targeted for their religion. We all know the famous slogan that was raised from mosques and written on walls in Kashmir Ralib,Galiv,Chalib/convert,die or leave. We aslo know how brutally the kashmiri pundits were tortured and murdered while in many cases their neighbours helped the terrorist About the hidden location of Kashmiri pundits. In the name of Kashmiriyat, they often try to wipe out the dark history of islamist jihad in valley in 90s against the kashmiri pundits.Remember if it had happened with Muslims they would hv made a whole big issue out of it like they make of Godhara which, was actually retaliation of that train burning incident, was nothing in front of plight of Kashmiri pundits.

The problem with national discourse about Kashmir is that the citizenry that has never and probably will never step on its soil has very strong opinions about anything and everything Kashmir We refuse to sympathise or empathise even and yet have expectations about how they should see what is happening around them. Let me explain you why there is strong opinion about kashmir, kashmir was and is same as rest of India, sub nationalism exist in every part of India but not to an extent that it takes shape of militancy, violence, genocide and led to exodus of fellow citizens. Lone himself admitted that there were no armed forces in kashmir before brutal face of militancy, it was after 1985-90, the period of darkness in which Kashmiri Muslims along with Pakistan were involved, to curb that militancy India used force. And when you use force, to interrogate, you will certainly not worship them, human rights abuse is bound to happen. Now your response may be that militancy was because of rigged elections, rigged elections might have added fuel to fire but it is never cause of it. Rigged elections happened in most part of India , many a times wrongly president's rule was Imposed, India's democracy was in new born face , it was evolving that's why you have never seen any majorly rigged elections after 2000 and no wrongly applied president's rule because of various supreme court judgements and mature democracy. Tali do hatho se bajti hai , we should never forget that. (You should visit manifesto of separatist leaders during 1987 election which includes execution of sharia law, if not rigged elections, the newly formed would have been dismissed by president) although it is just assumption

My opinion about sajad lone changed after this interview. He's the most honest politician in kashmir. If he fights for srinagar in future. I am definitely voting for him❤

Really appreciate this interview with Sajad Lone! These kinds of honest conversations are so important, especially in today’s polarizing climate. It’s a great way to learn from our history and understand different perspectives. We need more of this thoughtful content to help us make informed decisions for the future. Keep bringing these voices to the table

Very interesting character, being a kashmiri i came to know him from this interview. He didn’t act for a second,i could see in his eyes ,he spoke what he saw, what he felt …yes sometimes people make blunders for their existence, but there is always a second chance and i feel he should be given that.
