Today on Unfiltered Stories, our guest Kelly Wallace shares her story with us. At a very early age, she realized the way her grandfather touched her was very inappropriate. When she told what happened to her, the grandfather was sued and she testified against him at court. Even though her grandfather was found not guilty, she showed commendable courage despite being a kid at the time. With the help of therapy and support groups, she started her healing process and shares her inspiring story with us.

The fact that they would let a predatory type of behavior thrive in the courtroom environment, for it to be packed with the father's paternal relatives that came up with an alibi, and they try to paint her mother is crazy, and leave this child in a courtroom to fend for herself against people who are obviously manipulative and obviously more equipped with the skills to be sly or underhanded? How long is the system make a mockery of justice?

And also I feel is a representation how dangerous sexism is, and how deep it may be . It could be both in the dynamic of a mother towards the Sun, where she displays hate or just like this situation with father and daughter. He has such a strong deep misogynistic tendency that it is imbalanced, extreme. To the point that this is his child and he can't even make the discernment for himself to be a protector as a father should be... How selfish you would have to be to go through such lengths to protect not only physically his father's life but also the ideal he has of his father maintained through childhood... To be so selfish and childish- too completely undermined and disregard his child safety and her age in the situation... That man is absolutely insane. Her father needs to be charged and also needs a mental evaluation because he doesn't sound fit for his position

Her own father actively worked against her best interests. What's worse is that this man was a prosecutor who used the legal system to his own benefit AND THEN became a judge after which he would have presided over hundreds of other cases just like this. I wonder how many molesters were able to escape justice because of what he did. That level of villainy cannot be rehabilitated. It deserves only a bullet.

How her father defended his father instead of his little girl just baffles me
@mining4goldmeister420
@mining4goldmeister420 11 күн бұрын
Because he was guilty of the same thing. Who do you think he learned it from? And you had better believe the grandmother knew. They knew it wasn't normal having a 6 year old sleep with a man - grandfather or not. Completely inappropriate and abhorrent. That whole family knew at some level that there was abuse going on. They were a family of secret keepers. They know there is abuse but choose to cover it up, bury it and blame everyone else. The dad just continued the family dynamics and abuse over to his own family. Multigenerational abuse, lies and no responsibility taken for anyone's actions. Sickening. Allowing those lawyers to use such dirty, under-handed tricks to scare her during her testimony. Trying to strong arm his little girl into keeping quite. Sociopathic narcissist in full-on mode. No empathy, concern or real love for his girls - just control and manipulation. So glad she had a strong fighter of a mom who went to bat for her. Gave her courage to know she had someone in her family sticking by her side.

@@steph4922 I think it's common for kids who see their parents kiss to want to replicate that behaviour and that's completely innocent. The difference is when it's done secretly. The sentence I quoted in my first comment said her sister was "pulling little boys aside trying to kiss them" and that's exactly what I did too, I was 5 years old and took younger boys to the side where nobody could see us and tried to kiss them. You never get molested out in the open, it's always hidden away and it's always a secret so I must have thought what I was doing should be a secret. Lucky for you someone believed you. Me on the other hand at the age of 7 was forced to not speak. At 50 I brought everything to light and was disowned. This over my older brother by 10 yrs constantly abusing me.

I agree, however it is hard to totally disengage without comments of being petty, childish, that was so long ago and the like. I always wanted to make a shirt saying: intolerant of stupidity! My rapist is recently dead, I believe god intervened so that I may move past, it did feel relieving that the boogie man under the bed was dead.

It’s outrageous how men protect each other - the charade of the police / court system is devastating children even more. Child abuse is RAMPANT. Many kids change their minds like your poor sister did, under familial pressure. You and your mother are heroes🏆

I was SA as a child my mother knew about it and did absolutely nothing until the guy who was SA me threatened to kick us out. Im so thankful that your mother took action immediately and never gave up on finding you justice. The person who abused me died years later and despite my testimony he never went to jail or was held responsible for his actions. My mother ended up losing my siblings and I to the state years later. And after that everything continued downhill for her. My siblings were way younger that me and needed minimal support. I did my best to shield them from not only the monster that abused me but from our father too. All of us still struggle from everything that happened to us as kids. But we have found a way to make something better of it. I’ve spoken at a Conference full of social workers and their supervisors on how important it is to investigate reports that are made to them. Especially the one that are usually screened out due to multiple reports being made. And I hope to one day open up a clinic in Alaska that specializes in equine therapy for children and young adults affected by both SA and PA.

I'm glad your mother believed you and it's horrifying that the family got together to come up with an "alibi". Thank goodness you had that presentation in school and recognized what was happening. It's infuriating that schools don't want to give that kind of information in classrooms. Thanks for being brave enough to speak out against it when you were little and for speaking out about it as an adult.

I know well almost all the places in Oregon you’re talking about where you lived. I grew up in Umatilla county, and have lived in southern Oregon 20+ years. I’m also a therapist and have discussed with families I’ve worked with that schools really should integrate psychoeducation early on “good touch bad touch” to help them recognize it and keep themselves safe and am so glad it worked for you. Thank you, ❤to you, this brave lady for telling your story.

The horrific, hellish things parents put their things through is spawned from hell. The more I hear these stories the more I realise how cowardly so many men are. They do sick things to their families and then hide behind lies to get away with their evil deeds. I think this lady is a hero surviving these betrayals by her father and grandfather and other family members. I also think her mother is a hero for grabbing her kids away from her abusive ex and his father I say: SHAME ON THE COURT SYSTEM THAT DID NOT PROTECT THESE VULNERABLE ABUSED VICTIMS

It's a shame the way people get away with abuse. But... be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. He will get his.
