I have to say that apart from the iconic D8, I actually prefer the version in The Singer. Although he doesn't go even remotely close to the D8 in that version, I find it much more beautiful and definitely more appealing visually with that orange lighting scheme. That said, singing a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato....how does anyone do that live??? And ON HIS KNEES???? When I watched the performance recently for the first time, I wasn't aware he was going to hit the D8 in it. I literally fell off my bed that morning when he hit it and nearly destroyed my phone in the process. One can literally say his range is off the ch.... uhm, PIANO! 😂😂😂😂

thank you again :) I don't know if anybody has already said it in the feed, but this microphone trick he uses is to show that he really sings live. Dimash has used this on several occasions as well as in the contest The World's Best in the USA, aired at the beginning this year and recorded at the end of last year. the contest he refused to continue just before the final because he had to compete with children not knowing that beforehand. the Kazakh tradition is that you never compete with children. you respect the elders and support the young ones. and Dimash deeply honours its culture - such a beautiful and noble thing to do from such a young man.

I love music. I can't sing very well, but since I was 3 years old I have loved trying to sing, lol, and especially just love to worship the Lord through song. I am in awe of the voice God has given Dimash. It is straight from the Lord since He is the Maker of man, so it has been fun to watch different reactions from people. However, most reactions are just unprofessional, lots of vulgar speech so I turn most of them off. You, however, are extremely professional, soft spoken, and have such knowledge into the art of music. I appreciate that you stay professional during your reactions and that you greatly appreciate the voice, charisma and nature of Dimash. You have also been given such a beautiful singing voice, but I don't detect pride in you when reviewing Dimash. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you! I always felt that the D8 was a spur-of-the-moment decision, though I never figured out why. I just thought, maybe, heat of the moment... Now what you say makes a lot of sense. Another thing that floors me is how he then continues with a perfect lower register as if nothing unusual had happened...!!! 👍👍👍👍🌷🌷🌷🌷 By the way, many people miss the one line in the song, right about the climax in the high notes, where he asks, So how could I let you go to another? In the Bastau concert, a pretty girl stands on a platform which is slowly pushed toward Dimash’s platform. At this point of the song, she suddenly falls straight backwards and disappears. So apparently, in the story, the narrator might have fallen in love at first sight, but she already belonged to another and fell away from his life. Maybe that’s why that day was Unforgettable. Thus the poignant cry in the high notes section.

I love this song so much. Those lyrics... it's pure poetry in motion. ❤ Dimash rarely sings the bridge of this song the same way twice. Tho the D8 is super impressive, I actually prefer the Singer performance. The D8 is replaced by a run that "only" goes up to G7 😉 but is very beautiful. I preference also has much to do with the band/backup singers on the Singer show... they are soooo good. Even if you don't react to it, I highly recommend that you watch the full performance from Singer with no eng subs..... And for something different, if you watch the Gloria Wu version, she's woven in vocals from earlier performances for the first verse so it's like a mini progression of vocals over the years prior to Singer... and the little interview with Dimash at the end just melts my heart. I recommend that you watch both of them.

Hi, Caleb. Great reaction as always. I always look forward to seeing your detailed and insightful comments and can't wait for the next one. Assuming you are still going through the Singer episodes, I have a request. When you do Episode 12 (there is no Episode 11 for Dimash because he had already made it into the final rounds) Confessa + Diva Dance, could you also do Diva Dance Bastau at the same time? The Bastau version is very short and it would be fun to compare. I think most of us would agree that his Bastau version was better than The Singer, but I think both Diva Dance versions are amazing and his dramatic and entertaining performance of Confessa is not to be missed. Thanks for considering my request. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for reacting to Gakku! If you haven't, I'd make sure to watch the Singer version when you get a spare moment (just to listen to it, not react). I really love your technical analysis of his songs. Great job! :D I've watched a lot of vocal coaches/singers/etc. react to this (specifically the D8) but you are really one of the two or three I've seen stop explain what may have happened (with the mic and the sound not coming out) and how the whistle register works. to explain what happens/how the whistle register works--all in relation to the D8. I'm really impressed! The reason for the D8 is suspected to be just as you said. He normally hits a lower note, but for for whatever reason it didn't work (i.e. Dimash is human, things happen!) I've heard the D8 to be: he slid into it from a lower note, 5 seconds with vibrato (because obvious a D8 JUST WASN'T ENOUGH). lol It's such a pure, clean tone, too--most I've heard that can reach those high whistle notes usually end up sounding a bit shrill (in a way that kinda hurts to listen to), and look slightly uncomfortable/forced sound. This just shows how Dimash is just amazing and with such control! :D I look forward to the next Singer reaction! .... and Diva Dance @ Bastau. This time I offer chocolate brownies to do a reaction to the latter as well. >_>

The important part of the story that Gloria Wu omitted was that Dimash didn't write the lyrics, and there are all of these fan sites saying he did. They were actually written by the poet/lyricist father of a childhood friend of Dimash named Oral Baisengir, who also wrote the lyrics to another song Dimash sings - "My Swan". By doing some digging on the web, I found this account describing how a 19yr. old Dimash brought the music over to his house so that he could write lyrics for it. If everybody knew this it might put a dent in all of the speculation that Dimash wrote the lyrics about a mystery girlfriend that no one can name. It is true though that Dimash could have told him what to write. Here it is : facebook.com/dimash.kudaibergen.kz/posts/513618782357933/

@Just want the Best voice Unfortunately English speakers don't read those captions in Kazakh on the screen at the beginning of the songs, but for this song in particular, many sites on the web don't mention Mr.Baisengir at all. I saw a fan site where a person was asking if Dimash wrote the lyrics about an old girlfriend, and he was told by the person running the site "Yes". It also doesn't make it easy for people to know the truth when the way it is set up on his own site is that it says a song like "Give Me Your Love" is composed by Dimash, but unless you click "show more" you don't know that that didn't include the lyrics. So then people tell reactors that he wrote everything, and one reactor commented back about Dimash's English lyrics. Then there is not taking the time to pause the video long enough to read that Dimash didn't write "Screaming". I don't like it when reactors are misinformed about these things and I can only hope that it isn't being done on purpose. I'm pretty sure that Dimash wouldn't take credit for things he didn't do, so his fans shouldn't either. There are enough true things to brag about.
@-R.Gray-5 жыл бұрын
@Just want the Best voice Usually with pop music with vocals, when somebody says that a person "wrote" the song themselves I would think that since it is seen as an expression of the artist's point of view, the lyrics would be included. For example, at music awards shows like the Grammys, the song writing awards are given to both the writers of the music and the lyrics if more than one person wrote it. Anyway, you would think that after pointing out these inaccuracies about Dimash songs month after month that there would be fewer of them. But either new people are getting their information at the same bad places, or the same people just don't read other peoples' comments. I like Caleb, and think he deserves the truth, but sometimes I feel it's not worth it anymore. Nice to talk to someone on the same side. It's late where I am, Goodnight.

My thoughts exactly. I think his voice got cut out and then he does that crazy D8 to made up for it. You can also see almost the same thing on the singer version, but it was the other way around. I think on the singer he tried to make the whistle note (by the gesture of his hand closing to the earpiece), but didn't came out, so he does other melody instead. Both version still killer though. First of all, what an amazing analysis! So professional and careful. There are so many Vocal Coaches that are doing Dimash videos, some are good, some are decent but unfortunately most are really bad. For better or worse Dimash has became very click-bait-y. It's so refreshing to see someone like you! As many already stated, almost no "Vocal Coaches" (haven't seen every single one, so I'm not 100% sure, that's why almost) have talked about his voice cutting off (and honestly I don't even know why). So interesting to hear your professional thoughts on it, because it always was really intriguing to me. I also find it really nice that you were a little concerned talking about him "fucking up" something, but I appreciate that you are objective and true to yourself. So thank you, Caleb! Now, I already told you, that my favourite performance of this particular song is at a recent concert he did at Emei mountain where the conditions were awful. You should absolutely check it out, not necessarily on camera, and if you even have a little bit more time, you could see the whole concert, which is around 30min (due to the weather it had to be cut short). Hey Caleb.. I think Dimash missing that one note was a blessing in disguise or else we never would have heard that D8. Thanks for your reactions. Your a pro for sure......

Hi Caleb. Very helpful analysis. About the mic technique, usually he do it when he wants to prove he sings live, but here I agree. It seems he wasn't sure about his voice😄 I like all versions of this song. Miss world 2018, in his concerts.all are unforgettable🤩 but lately it's more about emotions than high notes or long belting. It is one of the songs his fans always sings with him. So he takes it easy😅😍in his last concerts it was verrryyyy good. Dears were amazing. I love them😍😍

Loved this reaction! You always have such interesting things to say that I can hardly wait to see which song/artist you are taking on next. As for Dimash... you will find that he takes off on a different level after the Singer. Perhaps because he no longer is in a competition he has the freedom to express himself and do things his own way (instead of being mindful of appealing to judges and impressing voters...). For me, his time after the Singer has just been a row of jaw dropping moments after another. Even when I think I know what to expect Dimash always manages to surprise me. (Exactly like when you watched him sing All By My Self, and what you expected him to do next wasn't what he actually did...)

I honestly can't wait - I'm making as many Dimash videos as possible because I'm being patient to not rush ahead and watch them, but rather do the first time reactions :)

I never thought it was a voice cut off... Since the first time I saw the video I felt he was preparing for the higher note.

I love this song and I love that he reaches out to his fans during his performance. I am always a bit sad that on some reactions folks are always waiting for the big notes (not you Caleb), but I truly enjoy his low register and everything in between and how he brings beautiful lyrics and his amazing vocal skills plus his desire to create a moment of beauty. I would love to see him perform soft delicate vocal gems for us as well as the rolling thunder. I love Dimash and I truly want to see him enjoying what he can offer us - which I believe is what he tries and usually succeeds 100% 😘😘😘😘

Great commentary Caleb... I can't help wishing his fans would let go needing to hear his whistle notes. The more they scream when he does it, the more he'll try and please them. I'm loving his low notes! Am sure you're right his voice cut out... nice distraction Dimash!

Another great reaction video Dear Caleb! 😊💕 I’m so enjoying following this Dimash journey with you and as I’ve said before, I feel that I learn something new each time...here I gained a better understanding of whistle notes and how they’re created. Dimash’s D8 is off the charts impressive!!! Can’t wait for the next video...I believe it’s Confessa/The Diva Dance. Get ready for another knock out performance!!!! 👍🏼😁👍🏼

Understand your choice for the Gakku version of Unforgettable Day, but to me, he is simply showing off here (as he should); but the SINGER version is way more subdued and emotional. The ending is just out of this world (without the whistle note)... But hey, to each his own, right? Your reaction was dead on (again) - and where you go, I follow. Thank you for this.

Majority of people believe he tried to hit that note, and couldn't at first, took a quick break, and hit it. He normally at that point goes G7. Awesome reaction as usual!!

Dimash's best time playing with the crowd is "SCREAMING IDOL HITS"..... I saw people recommend this Version Unforgettable day just for the D8 his misses the run and whistles but watch the Singer Version he does 3 incredible runs I think. It does look like he tries to whistle after the first run but misses it and does 2 more runs :)

It was a crazy note right? I think the same when i heard the gakku version, "oh whoops, and then he make up to his fans with that crazy note" hahahaha, if you want to hear other whistle like that, i recommed you the song of "my hommeland" it would be great if you react to it, belive me, you won't regret it, he also do something that looks like a run or crazy vibrato, i don't know but is super cool. Also thank you for your reactions, they are so real and cool, i like them the most! 😂👌👌

Very nice job reacting to Dimash's song, you are very kind and professional not degrading and judgemental which is awesome to see and hear. I'm sure he wants to do a perfect job for his fans but even though people say he is an alien, he really is a human. Thanks for a sweet reaction Calab.

Yeah he went for the whistle and it didn’t come out, but instead of letting it phase him, like a true professional, he not only went for the whistle again he went even higher than usual!

Hi Caleb, Great reaction, I think you are spot on, Dimash has said on interviews he can tell when something isn't going to happen and improvises with something else! As Markus (below) has explained it as happened before on the "SINGER" you can actually see him attempt it and quickly aborts attempt but he said that he realised the mic wouldn't take it because of the show being broadcast. 👌👌👌😊😊
@CalebColesMusic5 жыл бұрын
SO cool to know even Dimash has limits, but also how brilliant he is at using that to his advantage
@markhansen79985 жыл бұрын
Gosh...I thought there was in fact an almost inaudible high note while waving the mic, then, knowing what adjustments to make he made the D8 which most everybody can hear...the brief note I heard was likely missed by most. I had a detailed hearing evaluation some years ago due to a health issue and the Audiologist discovered that I picked out high frequencies to an extent that rather shocked her. There may have been an extraneous sound unrelated to Dimash, maybe a dog whistle in the audience, but it was very high.
@jenniferelliott31015 жыл бұрын
You explained perfectly well what I thought might have happened before the D8. You really are an awesome reactor. A pleasure to watch. I hope you will never get tired of reacting to Dimash. 💕
