So what do you mean by "recover"? Survive with a permanently cripped leg? Or die of infection from bloody wounds that look survivable? Crippling injuries are likely to shorten their lives, wounds and inability to eat well are likely also to bring on TB that's already latent.

That Hyena came back from the dead! For her to even stand up after what happened is nothing less than astounding, you can see how fast she recuperated in moments with our own very eyes. She went from completely dazed with what looked like a broken leg to limping, barely walking and then by the end of the clip she was able to run. Just amazing I hope she survived.

I don’t think that was a charge tbh, I think it just stumbled that way…but hyenas are without a doubt one of the most resilient animals on the planet! Two broken legs and it figured out a way to run using the less injured one 😮 I’m rooting for this one, it’ll be hard to survive without the clan’s help, but they did come to rescue it knowing there were 3 other male lions nearby so hopefully it’s one of the higher ranking female’s offspring and they’ll help feed & protect it until those wounds are healed…poor thing deserves to survive after walking away from such a brutal mauling.

Kudos to both the lion and the hyena. My kudos to the lion is leaving the hyena unfinished. But it’s intentional and often that they do this, they want to show the injured hyena as a sign of warning and dominance for the other hyenas who dare to challenge him. It’s a smart tactic. When they do kill hyenas, it’s usually when they’re alone and have nothing to prove or warn to other hyenas. As for the hyenas, I’m just very pleased with how no matter the odds are, their will to survive is phenomenal. Against 5 male lions, the hyena didn’t give up on life just yet, saving every last breath it had left. That takes hope, strength, and faith. Kudos to them for being true survivors. Even though they come off as annoying, and I’d easily favor a lion over them, you can’t just ignore this prideful mentality they have. Just watching these animals in the wild can even teach us life lessons. And that’s the main thing I take away from that, and you should too.

Adult male lions don’t let “a rival predator” survive. Male lions kill, they don,t play around. If this was a leopard, cheetah, wild dog it would have died in seconds or less than a minute at most. I’m a huge lion lover….. but I actually was rooting for the hyena to get away. I know they kill lion cubs and stuff but the sheer terror in his eyes and the fight to get away. Glad he survived this encounter, hopefully this has made him smarter and he won’t play with them again!!!
