Watching David break down after Danny asked him why he was in survival mode is one of my all time favorite moments in real world history. You could see the anger in the room dissolve instantly.
@MahoganyBorn
@MahoganyBorn 2 жыл бұрын
I can sincerely understand why you appreciate that moment, but it’s really important not to lose sight of the fact that he was pushed to the brink because they wanted answers and he couldn’t give them what they were demanding out of him. It was not his ‘choice’ to share his vulnerability with them. A room full of white folks aggressively interrogating him under the guise of some sort of an “attempt” to “understand” his reality doesn’t necessarily elicit vulnerability in a safe & positive way.
@HovaNirvana
@HovaNirvana 2 жыл бұрын
@@MahoganyBorn Facts. It should be noted that Kelley did not agree with the confrontation, as she was actually his best friend in the house (which is surprising as the season did very little to indicate that) and you can actually see her as physically not part of the group.

Listen, man. I was way too young when this season premiered on MTV, but I lived for the marathons that the network would air before a new season. I believe it was RW12: Vegas that I fully tuned into, but of course before the big night MTV marathon-style aired previous seasons to get us warmed up and excited for the fresh faces of a new city. And it was THEN that I got to see these classics: Chicago, Hawaii, and my all time personal favorite in New Orleans. This season remains in my heart as a personal best season. I was so young when I popped my blank VHS cassette into the VCR to record episode after episode - I felt like the coolest 11 year old ever! 😂😂

That's how I feel about the very first season, in Seattle. At that time , Seattle was considered the coolest city to live in. Kurt Cobain was still around. There was an amazing music scene coming out of the northwest area. People were nicer and a lot more fun around that time. All this cancel culture and division didn't exist back then, everyone more or less got along ok. I really miss those days.

I never missed a episode of the real world when I was a teen and in my 20's. David came off embarrassing. Now he goes by Tokyo or something so not sure the embarrassment will end. Julie though was fake AF! You can just see it with her smiling during confrontations. I didn't like her then and I don't like her now. What the cast says about her doesn't surprise me and I bet she pulled the fake tears out a lot in the new season.

After 9/11 , the people in the house started a muffin delivery service. Judd died and Pedro wrote a comic book about him. Irene spit on David's mail and he got really mad. Puck and Tami got married. Midnight Voices was a country band that also did rap songs.

Melissa really opened up to and believed in Julie through their "friendship" then on either the Challenge or Gauntlet whichever, Julie betrayed Melissa and that's what made Melissa strong enough to let Julie know she's a backstabber and a liar.

Allegedly, Julie was playing Kelley and Melissa against each other, which added to the tension they had. Those two could and should have clicked better, but they seemed to be cooler toward the end of the season. Kelley was clearly over the show pretty early on, and far more interested in being with Peter. Can’t blame her, she fell in love.

@@HovaNirvana so gossip. Don't forget production manipulates the cast and plants false stories in their heads during interviews. It's why Irene left Seattle - she saw it was not a true social experiment, but a manipulation of impressionable minds.

@@HovaNirvana Yes. Melissa and Kelley made comments to that effect after their season was over, that Julie had been going from one of them to the other, "reporting." They didn't realize it until they talked, and they had a better relationship after they were out of Belfort. Anyway, I'm interested to see the dynamics in the new season.
