Another nice reaction. My favorite part of this episode is the way they depicted The Beatitudes. Showing Jesus thinking of His followers and them being the inspiration was really beautiful.

I remember first watching and being blind sided when Judas introduced himself and then I remembered how Simon Peter reacts at Jesus' arrest and thought of how heartbreaking that handshake is 💔♥️ Thank you for yet another fun video 🎉

The Chosen has Bible Round Tables where they talk about each episode pertaining to scripture and adding plausible back stories to provide the meaning of the text of scripture -- one could say it is like meditating on scripture in how did a scene come about what each disciple was thinking or doing. In scripture we know that Simon had a mother-in-law but not much more than that. Thus the Eden character was made and a plausible idea and showing to the audience challenges in marriage.

I was like Otto when I first saw Judas because he IS different even physically, I was like "that has to be Judas" even his job, they literally bought a land in a cheap price when they knew it had more value, they con the guy and Judas felt guilty

When you watch season 3, keep a box of tissue handy. When you watch season 4, keep a whole carton of tissue handy! And maybe a few towels. And put sheets of plastic on the floor. Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit.

The finale of season 2 is unfortunately heretical in that they depicted Jesus as lacking in faith in Himself, which is preposterous. And it is a shame because the show was so good otherwise. and I am not being a nitpicker here. I realize they have to take some license when tryng to turn the Gospels into a workable screenplay. But claiming Jesus needed another man's assurance before He could confidently deliver His Sermon on the Mount is a bridge way too far. The only place in the Gospels where JEsus shows any hint of lacking in faith is in the Garden of Gethsemane. But that was right after He had connected to our sins by uniting with us at the Last Supper. So it is excusable that He would have become somewhat disoriented. But no where else in the Gospels does He show a hint of faltering or weakness. He is our perfect model of faith. And to depict otherwise is criminal. Sadly there is an even greater heresy in the way they depicted Jesus in episode 3 of the next season. Once again they threw the Bible out the window in favor of their own pet theory about Jesus and presented this time a monstrous picture of Him that is in direct conflict with everything ever said of Him in the Gospels. But I'll reserve that discussion until you get to that episode. In the meantime you need to explain that this episode is flawed and there really never was a time when Jesus felt uncertain in His mission and needed to have His ego stroked.

Yes well as stated before the very first episode, "all biblical and historical context and any artistic imagination are designed to support the truth and intention of the Scriptures. Viewers are encouraged to read the gospels."
@SchustersinChristАй бұрын
Exactly, and it did not seem at all like they were portraying Jesus as being unsure or lacking faith, it looks like he was letting Matthew help him to show that he appreciates his help. He doesn’t need people’s help but he asks for it to show that he cares for their input
@itt23rАй бұрын
@@tigqc And for the most part they did support the Gospel message in the various series' episodes. But on this one they failed in that effort. They impugned Christ's character, depicting Him contrary to the way the Gospels depict Him. And that makes it a heterodox gospel. You can't reimagine Christ to fit your personal feelings about Him and then pass it off as though you are being true to Scripture without the expectation of being criticized for it. So that is what I am doing.
@tigqcАй бұрын
@@itt23r and I'm sure He would oblige you if you told Him to get back in the box you have carved out for Him.
@annme7638Ай бұрын
I’m sorry but you are wrong. They did not show Jesus as lacking faith in Himself or being uncertain of His mission and needed to have His ego stroked. Showing Jesus asking Matthew what he thought does not indicate that they are portraying Jesus as needing another man’s assurance before He could confidently preach. Jesus was a Rabbi, asking questions is one of the ways they taught. This was a teaching moment for Matthew, and by Jesus explaining things to Matthew, He is also explaining it to the audience. If you watch the series you’ll see that many of the scenes with Matthew they use him as a surrogate to explain things to the viewers. The Gospels do not hint that Jesus “lacked faith” in the Garden of Gethsemane. He knew the unspeakable suffering and the crushing weight of what He was going to endure, He asked the Father if it would be possible that He not go through that, but also said He would submit to the Father’s will. That’s not lacking faith, that’s asking not to suffer. Also, the scene in season 3, that I’m sure you’re referring to, isn’t heresy and doesn’t conflict with the teachings of the Bible. So even though the exact scene may not have happened, the point that is being made in that scene is a Biblical Truth, so no they didn’t throw the Bible out the window in favor of their own pet theory about Jesus. The writers don’t just draw from the Gospels in writing the show, they use the whole of Scripture highlighting the Biblical Truths found throughout. I won’t discuss the episode more here because I don’t want to spoil it.
