with the room open how were the bugs or animals any issues with that in the room

I stayed 4 years ago and though it's really lovely, the mosquitoes were a problem for me. There are these sort of candle things and mosquito netting, but if you opened the netting to go to the bathroom or accidentally "broke the seal," then you'd be bitten in your sleep. No issues during the day in the room, but hiking was a nightmare for me, even with all the spray. Depends on whether mosquitoes are attracted to you, I guess.
