The most unrealistic thing about this movie is the fact that one of the main guys asked "What's a troll?"

This feels like the bullies become the bullied, its like a new remastered Prom Night. The person who was bullied gets their revenge against the bullies.
@christaylor79166 жыл бұрын
I think they may have missed what was possibly the real meaning behind the title. I don't think it's called "Unfriended" because of her unfriending her on facebook. She was already starting to act out her revenge when the main girl unfriended her, while of course, not knowing that was actually the dead girl named Laura. It's very possible it's called unfriended because she unfriended her in real life. Remember how the film repeatedly showed childhood pictures of them together. There's even an exchange between the main girl and Laura at the end of the movie that was like, "Sorry we drifed apart." Then Laura responds, "Drifted apart?" And the main girl tried to remind Laura of the good times they shared before Laura stated that she wished she could forgive her. Anyways, this movie was pretty sad, even though Laura seemed like sort of a bully as well

@stark46149 жыл бұрын
Jim Halpert I'm guessing Martin is Generation X but an OLD Gen X-er. If he was born in the 60's he's Generation X. Because he's after the WW2 generation which are his parents. I'm guessing he's like around 50 or 51.

Social networking has granted the luxury of a domain where we can express our true feelings and thoughts usually without consequence, provided it stays within legal boundaries. The irony of course is that if people talked and acted the way they often treat others on the web, many of them would be despised for it. Technology itself is not the root of cyber bullying. The problem is how the freedom it brings has helped make desensitized elitists out of most that enjoy such privilege and the superiority they think it entitles them to. If we simply took more responsibility for what we say and post, the internet would be a better place where such fear and tragedy would be less prevalent. Honestly, I pity cyber bullies more than anything else, if tearing down others is what it takes for them to feel good about themselves. In the end, it only shows their own self error and their inability to grow from it.

There is actually a term that describes how people can potentially get all awful, ugly, and downright evil when they get to hide behind the keyboard and the login names of forums and chats. Online Disinhibition Syndrome. Penny Arcade also referred to it as John Gabriel's Greater Internet F-wad Theory: Person + Anonymity + Audience = F-wad.
@GeteMachine8 жыл бұрын
+Keith Harris Clearly the most privileged generation in society is so self-absorbed and detached from consequence, that they would bother to harass people or their own amusement or just by the fact that they can get away with it. A lot of these selfish, narcissistic millennials like those featured in this movie would be the first to kill themselves if treated the same way. I hate millennial key-board thugs.

Frank Wave I liked this movie but I'm gonna SPOIL THE ENDING because I hated it… The whole movie is told through the main character's computer screen and it did something clever at the end. It ends with the Ghost Girl closing the laptop. That would have been the PERFECT ENDING! Then they fucked it all up with the jump scare! So stupid! Like I said, I still liked this movie though.
@everythingmakessense869 жыл бұрын
+Frank Wave its the dead girl's spirit or whatever doing it. she turns them all against each other and takes over their bodies making them commit suicide when they broke her rules or lost one of her games. The female lead was the cause for the initial suicide and got all of her friends killed because she refused to admit to it.

@alphacause9 жыл бұрын
This might be an interesting premise, but I refuse to watch this because I don't want to support the found footage genre of films. What should have been a one time gimmick with movies like the Blair Witch Project and the first Paranormal Activity film has now become a technique that film makers use to cut corners. I pay good money to go watch a movie in the theater so that I can be awed by great cinematography. By shelling out money to watch a Skype screen for an hour and a half, you encourage filmmakers to make more of this tripe.
@JimHalpert999 жыл бұрын
***** Refusing to see a movie simply for its style is pretty shitty. That's like refusing to see a movie because it has a three-act structure. The reviews on this have been really great, so you're just doing yourself a disservice. Just check reviews from critics you trust before you pay money to see a movie. That's what I do anyway. Then you'll avoid the ones that abuse this premise and see the ones that elevate it.

The Skype part, yes. Ghost haunting people responsible for humiliating her, causing her to commit suicide and revealing devastating secrets that practically drove some of them to insanity as revenge? That could have worked better if it was done differently.
