I'm glad our country recognized them. The world has helped us in times when we desperately needed help. The least we can do is return that help to people that needed it. They came here from their war-torn countries. They tried to lived and learn Filipino culture. I think that was nice of them and I'm proud of everyone for not shutting their doors for those people in need. I've been a US citizen for decades, not because I wanted to denounce my Filipino citizenship, but because I was raised here since childhood. However, from the time I found out that I could re-apply for my Filipino citizenship, I did so and now have dual citizenship. My five children (one born in the US and four in Venezuela) feel pride in being part Filipino and are dying to get their Filipino citizenship, if possible. As a matter of fact, we have been going to the Philippines almost every year since 2012, and one of my sons spent part of his vacation pursuing his dream of getting Filipino citizenship, going from one government office to another, without luck. It is not lack of patriotism because most Filipinos do not know their own history, but circumstances which have led them, like many other people from poorer countries, to pursue their dream in other , more advanced countries with wider opportunities. Also, the lack of knowledge about their own history is due to the failure of the educational system and maybe the will and time to know about one's historical past. So, it's easy to criticize Filipinos who have emigrated to other countries and taken up other citizenship for being unpatriotic, without knowing the circumstances.

carlos reyes Moving to other countries isn't to denounce citizenship/Filipinoness. Ppl simply do that in hopes of living comfortably, opportunities and because jobs are there. Most who moved there are always proud of where they came from, much more proud compared to most immigrants from other countries. Plus, its to help out family back home with balik bayan boxes. I bet you most would return to the homeland in a heartbeat once the country improves in providing jobs, safety, livable income, infrastructure, and quality of living.

You know Philippines has a lot of issues. Poverty, over population, pollution, horrible traffic and lack of development just to name a few but accepting people from other nations who escaped tyranny and making them citizens is so heartwarning and is one of the things that make me proud to be Filipino.

Life in the Philippines is simple and jovial. If you are looking for a rich high paced dynamic society it is not found here. But if you are looking for a simple lifetyle with vivid community, Philippines it is. And it doesn't matter where you came from, know that the Philippines at its core is of multi-ethnic multi-cultural society. The more the better!

Dude is complicated in Venezuelan case... i'm Brazilian and i'm alerting you, if you have a space in Phillipines for 3 or 4 millhons of persons or more OK, ... Colombia have 1 million of venezuelans by this time, in Ecuador have more venezuelans in Quito than ecutorians... and I alert you, many od they comit crimes, are racists and arrogants of country that give refugee to them...

A positive video but insecure Filipinos managed to flip it and turned into empty nationalism, even shaming Filipinos who chose to live abroad. If this story tells one thing, it's that the world needs to be more inclusive and borderless. Your country is just a name.

@joserizal11587 жыл бұрын
Nang pinaganak kaba sa ibang bansa inireport ba at nagpunta ang magulang mo mga Pilipino citizen sa Philippine Embassy to report of birth (Child Born Abroad of Philippine Parent or Parents). If so dapat may copy ang mga magulang mo na issued PHL Embassy signed by the Consul at yung ang proof ng iyong birth certificate..Pwede check mo rin sa Dept. of Foreign Affairs. Okay.

JOSE RIZAL paano po pag hindi na i report ng magulang ko sa phil embassy?
@colbi857 жыл бұрын

I remember when I was in High School in the Philippines back in1990. We had a Foreign teacher from Germany. We didn't really know a lot about him except that he is a great teacher. Later on we found out that he was a Jewish Refugee from Germany. He already passed away but his teachings and memories still lives on in my Highschool.
