Greatto hear - as a german that is a little catholic-ish, for me these US christian fundamentalists lack any resemblance of what I took from Jesus' teachings - humility, awareness of your own fallibility, tolerance, respect, NOT judging, compassion, mercy, forgiving, helping others. What I would find great is when the "positive" christians (same would apply in islam or any other religion) for whom their God stands for positive values and see that other "christians" ABuse their God of goodness for selfish purposes - to enrich themselves, to manipulate, to control, to oppress - that these positives would VEHEMENTLY speak up against the abusers. Like against Prosperity Gospel, christian faith healers doing mass faith healings live on TV from Megachurches, christian prophets, doomsday preachers (that failed since 2000 years and are still going strong), hate preachers like Greg Locke calling people in his congregation out as witches (because they had criticized him in private), and and and... No problem with a God that helps you on your way to become a better person, to give you a positive attitude, give you hope, make you confident about your existence. . In the moment God becomes a tool to elevate you (and your group) over others, to make you superior, when people feel authorized to judge over others, to dictate what other ought to do, to force your way on others, to think that you exclusively OWN The Truth, morality, meaning of life etc. - then it gets problematic for me. But as said, as long as one can work together on issues that require treatment, based on facts and sound arguments based on the God-given (or not, doesn't matter) logic, all is good.
