Definitely would love to see a second part to this, the band did not die with jimmy. Nightmare went on to be huge, they did music for COD, hail to the king, the stage brought us Brooks Wackerman from bad religion, so much more history to this band to just end it with the Revs passing.

My first ever Rock/Metal concert was A7X with Papa Roach when the Rev was still alive when I was 24 or 25 and I’m 37 now. A7X is literally the band that got me to start playing guitar 13 when I heard Unholy Confessions. So I owe a lot to this band! I may not listen to them like I used to at all but I still love this band nonetheless! And R.I.P. Rev!!!

I’ve played drums for 21 years, since I was 5, and Jimmy is arguably still my biggest influence almost 14 years after his passing. I distinctly remember the day I found out about his passing, I was 12 at the time, and to this day it’s still one of only four celebrity deaths that I’ve cried over (the others being Ronnie James Dio, just a few months later, and more recently, Neil Peart and Joey Jordison. RIP to all of those legends)

Stoked to see some clips from a video I posted. I grew up in HB from the age of 3 and still live there. I met A7X at the age of 9 (they were 17 at the time), and they didn’t do anything crazier than any kids you see in HB today. We played Guitar Hero at Nickle Nickle before it was available in your home, had typical house parties, but most importantly listened to music. Matt invited my entire family over to pick out whatever merch we wanted out of his parents garage. These guys are down to earth and true to themselves. Been my favorite band since the 4th grade when they first released the 3 song demo prior to Sounding. Excellent doc, nicely done!

This was a really well put together video, thank you. However, while the origin story is so important, this could really do with a part two, especially as this covers 4/8 albums to date. There's still so much to talk about like how they moved on after the Rev's death, their dive into steadily more progressive albums, and how philosophy and spirituality took on a bigger and bigger role.

Yes I grew up during that time It was awesome best music ever I grew up in Southern California and many people used to go to the cuckoo's nest to watch all these punk bands play. I was in a band I was a long hair so we played rock and roll and we used to get in fights with punkers regularly. It was the best time of my life being a teen and growing up with Black flag Dead Kennedy's TSOL couple of times I hung out with the adolescence the Agnew Brothers. Great video Huntington Beach has pumped out so many rock bands throughout the years including Korn. Great video!

Great job on this. But heres a bit of a correction. At the time of The Rev’s passing, they were already working on the album Nightmare and he had already demoed out the drums for most if not all of the album and some vocals most notably the song Fiction(check it out if yall haven’t heard it yet(bonus fact; The Rev’s solo part “i hope its worth it…..” he was recovering from a hangover). Mike portnoy came in and basically recorded and kept true to what jimmy had demoed on a electric drum kit. And mike did an excellent job with it.
@RAWMUSICTV Жыл бұрын
He wrote most of that album and the band had finished writing it before he passed but he didn't record the album with the band, although as you say there are some of his vocals present. I'm not sure what you're actually correcting? Demoing drums and writing are not the same as recording an album with the actual band.

Excellent video, but the band didn’t end with jimmy passing, you left so much on the table to discuss, I mean there’s 4 more albums since the self title, most importantly of which was nightmare that jimmy helped write most of but past before any studio recordings were done, and the legend Mike Portnoy himself stepped up to studio record the album with avenged in honor of jimmy
@RAWMUSICTV Жыл бұрын

This should be the story of the Rev. even that is incomplete in this video because he did write the drums for the album “nightmare.” He didn’t get to record the record. He’s also singing on that album. Anyways, the story of avenged sevenfold does not end with the revs death. Nightmare of 2010 and the stage 2016 or a couple of their best albums. We’ll see how life is but a dream holds up.

If I remember correctly, Jimmy took his own life? It was not accidental. Brompton Cocktail was his message to the band, how he was going to do it. Fiction was Jimmy’s suicide letter to the band they found he had written after he passed away. Check me on this, but I swear I remember watching videos of the band talking about this stuff after it happened
@JZJ7777 Жыл бұрын
No, it was definitely accidental. I refuse to believe anything else. The time of his death seems to suggest that it wasn’t necessarily on purpose. It was a random time, sometime in the middle of the day. There’s more sources saying that his death was an accidental prescription drug overdose and alcohol. The combination was lethal.
