Hello Paul. John theNavyCalibration TECH here. The standard you are comparing the 'scope to here, your Signal Generator, in this case, must be 4 times more accurate than the Device Under Test (DUT). In my day, it was 10 times more accurate. Anyway, when measuring bandwidth, we usually used a pulse generator with a fast rise time. We measured the horizontal difference in time from the bottom .303(?)% of the rising edge of the pulse and the top .707%(?) Of the leading edge. Rise time of a known pulse generator at least 4 times more accurate than your DUT scope = bandwidth. Hope that helps. The French lowered the accuracy to 4 times VS 10 times back in the '90s, I believe, and the US adopted that a short time later. I like 10 times more accurate . It's more expensive but if you can you should. This is seamen's lives we are talking about. More accuracy is better.

If I type 555 into the search box, none of your videos even pop up as a suggestion anymore. 😭

so it is worth to buy this scope?

The thing that I've noticed with the somewhat recent influx of a plethora of inexpensive scopes from Asia is that features are really nice - provided they work. Features that don't work aren't really features (ask anyone that uses Windows 😁) BTW, from the specs that I've seen for these inexpensive AFGs, 20MHz is max for some, 5MHz is max for all other waveforms. Man I wish I could afford a Keysight!

Thing is, this ARB isn't cheap. It's $899. Yikes!

This is just my own opinion about the way I use scopes. I don't do much that requires 200 MHz bandwidth. For my needs I'd rather have a 100MHz four-channel scope. And even the 100 MHz is overkill for audio work. Your mileage may vary. Think about how you'll really use a tool before spending a lot on a feature you might not need. The Uni-T looks like a good piece of equipment, but not quite right for my needs.

Need help understanding marine Sonar devices, mainly the transducer, johnC
@learnelectronics6 ай бұрын
A transducer is a transformer. It transforms one form of energy to another. Of course there's no such thing as a free lunch. That means you lose a little in the transformation. Both in received amplitude and signal clarity. The device you are describing is a hydrophone. A hydrophone used a piezoelectric crystal to transform pressure waves (sound) into electrical potential. After that you have an AC signal that can be manipulated by software.

@@learnelectronics Fantastic, my first reply in 5years,and top information. Now my problem is How to make one and how to control the transducer frequency Fromm 10hz upto, say 3000hz?…..manythanks. John. C

Unlike other updated small bench scopes, i noticed that this one was not powered by usb, and instead traditional line power. Not good for the offgrid electronics enthusiasts.

They are trying to get a share of the upper end of the test gear market. Trying to take a bite out of Key sight and Tektronics.

@@learnelectronics yeah, that ain't gonna be easy (won't really happen - this is rather Owon, Rigol, Siglent league) but it's good to see more diversity on the market in this segment. Competition will drive prices down and we get better specs and features for the $.

I looked at this video hoping to know if this unit can be powered via usb power pack, when required. Haven't seen input power rating yet but I think I saw a USB port on the back, presumably the any on the front are connection for memory sticks. Mains isolation facility is what I want.

How it compare to the Rigol DSO812, except Rigol is 100Mhz?
