I have been working with Pegasus but I found that your description of Unicorn is very similar - I've got a lot of those traits. There's a movie on Netflix (which has very bad reviews, but whatever, obviously NOT from Unicorn people) called "Unicorn Store" and I loved it because it really describes me so much. The main character is a misfit stuck in childhood. She tries to "fit in" and get a boring office job which doesn't pan out well for her. Finally she embraces her sparkly unicorn self and finds happiness! I loved it!

I have such a deeper understanding of myself after watching this. Every last detail described me. I have never been drawn to want something because it was unicorn themed. But I have always had a deep knowing that unicorns are real and have never had to put a second thought to it. Unicorns are always everywhere around me, I attract soooo much unicorn everything because ever since I was a kid, I felt them as my guides, along with other elementals. (I was an elf in a past life also, so I'm all kinds of yay and silly). So as unicornness is in my awareness always, and all IS my awareness, that I am, as I perceive etc, it just emerges consistently everywhere I go. Your knowledge is so vast. You are a Mythological Historian and Translator/ Psychologist of people's Spirit Totems. I am an Aquarius with healthy Catholic Upbringing. I know my catholic history well and was very religious Yet I spent hr after hr thinkin about Unicorns, Dragons, Pegasus and the rest of the Mythological Beings, they felt real to me. This video is accurate. I feel validated and confirmed as a Unicorn person. This was such a great video! Never would have thought to look at mythical creatures. I'm a pisces with sagittarius rising and 4 aquarius placements. I'm also a rooster in Chinese astrology(oh how we like to look nice!) It stung a little to listen to this video, because some family drama for me revolves around me setting boundaries and people not liking it. Even a year later, those boundaries probably hurt me more than them, but they were needed for my sanity. I'm also heavily involved in medical freedom groups and have been sticking my neck out, in public, on this controversial issue. So, I decided to look up Unicorn meanings instead, JUST to make sure I was exactly on the page I thought I was on with my sign off (in deference to the fact that one is never too old to learn). I wonder how you take the pulse of things. Because Unicorns are still floating around here, like since friggin' Halloween. Unicorn costumes and accessories then. A Dragon and a Unicorn both -- you are magical, SH! One thing my Dragon mama taught me about missions: when we can't connect with a Big Personal Purpose, it may be that for the time being, our genuine purpose is just to shine as brightly as we can and be our weird and wonderful selves, not just for our own sakes, but because this brings Light to the lives of others. We create a ripple effect in this way -- The person we influence directly is happier, and then they are able to pass that on to someone else, and that person passes it on to another, and so on and so forth, and the Light multiplies exponentially. Enormous differences in the whole vibe of one's community may truly start with one person's smile or laugh or kindness. This is really something at which Unicorn folks excel. So if your Big Purpose takes awhile to show up, or even if it never seems to, you are still doing something TREMENDOUS just by bravely being yourself. And THIS may actually be the Big Purpose! I've considered doing a video on them, but mermaids do not actually qualify as a totem, in the same way that a centaur would not, or a winged creature like a Faerie, as part of their form is human. The way I usually suggest people try to understand the significance of resonating so strongly with a creature like this is to ask themselves if they also feel strongly about other creatures in its realm; so for example, if we're talking mermaids, does one feel a connection to any kind of fish, or dolphin, whale, octopus, seahorse, etc.? If so, one would learn a great deal from studying the spiritual significance of these creatures. Or does one simply feel a deep, abiding connection to the ocean? If the latter is true, there is likely to be a strong water-placement in the person's astrological chart, and one would benefit from better understanding that placement and its highest potentials (water relates to creativity and creative expression, spirituality, healing, intuition, emotion, and femininity). If one simply resonates with the idea of mermaids, then the question becomes, "What IS it about mermaids that I love so much?", and one then gets to ask how they can incorporate more of that into their daily life. This was really very on point for me. I've dreamed about unicorns since I was little, I'm an empath as well and do feel and pain and anguish of other as my own. People always come to me to transmute their negative to positive which I'm usually happy to do, but it make it extremely hard to feel my own energy and self. 😅 2020 was a blessing for me it completely detoxed me of other people's energy and I was able to see and feel me for the first time in ages. You know I was feeling a little trepidatious about adding mythical creatures as totems in my story because I've been advised that including them would ruin the merit of the environmental messages I'm trying to put forth, but then I decided to focus on entertainment first and agenda second and add mythical creatures as totems because my gut told me one character fit unicorn totem to a tee, more so than horse.

I keep sing a lot of spiders around me, that as well as insects like fire flies and bees. Do all of that have a meaning?

It kind of depends, Josie. For example, I live out in the countryside, so we have a LOT of insects, and during this time of year, I'm always surrounded by butterflies when I'm in my garden, and we tend to get a lot of gnats in our house. They're not really guides in this case, just natural consequences of living in the countryside. But if I were finding butterflies INSIDE the house, or in my car, or they just seemed to be EVERYWHERE I went, then I might consider what meaning they might have to offer. Same if I were to get bitten by a spider or start finding them in unlikely places; it's more likely that there is a spiritual meaning to a creature's appearance when that appearance is either out of place or especially dramatic. Hi Jordana, how are you doing? There's something I've been thinking about for a while. In my story, how can magic and science to coexist seamlessly in the world without contradicting each other? I want the creation of the Earth and the evolution of life to be based on science, but I want there to exist the Earth Goddess, nature spirits, a spiritual life force and, of course animal totems and they play a part in the balance of nature too, but how do they connect with the biology and ecology? Also I've pondered whether I should include mythical animals like dragons and, well, unicorns as totems in my story or just stick to my original idea of using real animals. As a renowned totem expert, what do you think?

Oh goodness, Dhivann, that's definitely one you'll have to work out for yourself! Though wow, I'm so seriously flattered that you would consider me a good source of advice here! "Magic" and "Science" are ultimately just two ways of explaining how things happen, so the real work is not so much in creating a perfect blending of the systems, but deciding why it is that some things would be considered magic, while some would be regarded as science. For example, there's a young woman at my gym who can lift WAY more than the rest of us, and way more than she should be able to considering her body type. She does not look especially strong, and yet she lifts easily three times more than most of the really built men. It is absolutely *crazy* to watch, and we have joked with her that she must be some kind of a mutant. The fact is, she just has some kind of unique genetic ability that allows her to do this. But a few hundred years ago, no doubt someone would have called her super-strength magic (or more likely, if we're talking a few hundred years ago, the result of a pact with the Devil. Anyway!). It's really only our era that has determined that there is a scientific explanation for her ability. As for whether to include mythical animals or stick with with the "real" ones, that is all up to what feels good for you! When I'm doing my own fiction writing, I always remind myself that I won't write a story that doesn't feel *fun* for me, and so I make the choices that make me want to write, rather than ones which might appear to make more sense. I figure I can always go back and change some things when I hit the editing phase if they just aren't working out. Good luck, and happy writing!

Instead of blending magic and science, there should be some things that are considered magic and others considered science! Thanks a lot. I just need to think about why there are nature spirits in the world if the Earth was created and life evolved as it's explained scientifically.

I'm glad you found it helpful! And it's always okay to leave some things unknown - After all, many scientists will readily admit that they cannot explain certain phenomena, such as hauntings, psychic experiences, or exactly how ancient structures such as the Egyptian pyramids or Stonehenge were built (though there are some very interesting theories!). Terry Brooks, who wrote the Shannara series (among many other things), does an excellent job with this sort of situation. His books often contain blendings of magic and science, and in a way that allows for some things to be unexplained. His work might be a good resource for you as you decide what you'd like to do here. This might be a dumb question, but the whole "you have to be a virgin to work with unicorns" thing isn't true right? I just think it would be really weird for someone's unicorn totem to up and leave them if they, let's say, made babies.

Not a dumb question at all - People ask me that one all the time! And no, it's not the least bit true. Fantasy novelists love to use this one (I read a series a few years ago in which the main character's Unicorn companion could no longer stand to be near him after he'd had, um, relations. Very sad!), and Medieval Christian writers were a big fan of the concept as well, but as far as working with Unicorns goes, you could have a dozen little ones and there wouldn't be an issue. What we're really talking about here is the way in which Unicorn relates to our notions around "purity". So Unicorn would ask you to look at the ways you judge yourself as "impure" or "sinful", or the ways in which you judge others to be these things. You might experience the *perception* that Unicorn has abandoned you if you were *judging* yourself for sexual behaviors, but it would not be true. It would still be right there waiting for you to cut yourself some slack! Hope that helps! :)
