Unicorn Overlord but I can only use women

Unicorn Overlord came out pretty recently, so I obviously have to do a challenge run of the game. In this case, I can only use women in my army. It's definitely something.

One of my BEST teams is inspired by the story element of Virginia leaving you to confront whoever he was by herself and these women joined her. That team of five women SHRED most battles for me. I also have an All female Elves team using the characters you can recruit. These two teams definitely helped me through a huge chunk of the game.

Oh! That's a fun challenge run. In waiting for Tactics Ogre: Reborn to come out, I was replaying Ogre Battle 64 and wanted a challenge. My husband had only played through it with no Zenobians (hard not to mistype that as Zenoirans now) to get the Werewolf Wedding ending and hidden level, so I thought it'd be fun to play through it as lawful + all Zenobians so he could see the (probably canonical ending). I remember the game as easy, so I thought I'd try using only female troops as the front line tanks are almost entirely male. It was a fun challenge. (Though shout out to Tactics Ogre: Reborn for making most classes available to both genders.) I hit issues somewhat because of the route I took and Ogre Battle 64's story and boss battles evolving depending on the choices you make. (What is normally a you vs. one boss fight turned into you vs. a squad of of five bosses at once, plus I somehow tripped a flag to boost the enemy's levels.) Since dragon masters are a female-only class in most Ogre Saga games, I allowed dragons, which got me through it. Of course, just as I finished up Ogre Battle 64 and wished there was a new game with the exact same combat system, Unicorn Overlord came out, and I've been addicted ever since. Though featherbows and foxgirls were my MvPs.

Although I am relatively new to the game and have not completed the Cornia region myself - I had to spoiler myself by watching your great video. Dang that main unit of yours with Bengaria and the witch and elves is awesome. But wouldn't the real challenge run be using males only? Without flying and other cheese strats the game would be much harder I think. But maybe I just don't know about the male units cheese strats. Anyway, cool video 👌🌷

I’m glad you enjoyed. And while it’s true that women have some of the better unique classes (ie classes restricted to a specific character like Berengaria), men have a lot of the better generic classes like knights and hunters. I do plan on doing a men only run eventually though to see whether or not I’ve assumed correctly.

I wonder how possible the opposite is. AFAIK ALL your Flyer options are Female (until like, Shield Angels in Albion), as well as most buffers and I think all your healers too! Might actually be MORE challenging due to gameplay reasons rather than some required mechanics (I.E. Alain and only 1 starting female) be interesting to see, but for a proper comparison would need the same person to do both runs and compare

You don't need healers you can equip sanguine weapons. And Alain can self heal. Most powerful buffs are from items so you don't need to worry.

You can clear the final final boss without the maiden. You need a strong unit that suicides and then the MC gets the kill. The lack of flying is the biggest problem.mmmm my favourite units are female so it will be problematic

I think the challenge for that run would only exist in Cornia. I say this because the most op healing type has a male form (eleven archers) that can be recruited once you leave Cornia. Also, featherstaves are male only. As for fliers. Welp, guess I only get feathershields and featherstaves. And they’d be obtained towards the end of the game. Whatever the case, I think it’d be super possible. Esp since with men, I could make units of absolute destruction (cavalry gaming).

@@theoreticallymoss I didn't know the Male Elf Archers were decent healers, I never used them. I did forget about Featherstaves though, but that's still all the way in Albion which is super high level and you basically have to finish one of two other countries first after Cornia. It does kinda sound a lot easier now though, but might surprise somewhere. Though it'd be really fun to see Travis get "banned" as a callback lol!
