Can you tell me what the purpose is for the unifi router. You could just not use that at all since you didn’t configure anything in it. Could you not just plug the unifi switch into you modem direct and not use the unifi router at all. Or is there some sort of benifit to using that equipment. Great video 👍🏻

You can get more control over LAN settings as well as DHCP, DNS, Network boot and so on

ISP speed is only a factor when accessing the internet. Otherwise, over LAN, it's pretty much the speed of your hardware and nothing else.

Not sure why you do just go directly into the ubiquiti router and remove the ISP router/modem all together otherwise your double NAT etc. Is that how you set this up in the end or? Going from NTD (Coverts fiber to ethernet) directly to the ubuquiti router.

Maybe his modem has a dsl>ethernet cable and he's using a dsl connection I say this because it seems like a modem from an italian isp that offers 200mbps vdsl fttc

You can setup UniFi Controller on other device such as Raspberry Pi or even run a virtual server on a Windows machine.

accedi al tuo modem digitando 192.168.1.1, inserisci user e password e vai nella sezione settings --> LAN del modem/router. Troverai l'ip address router 192.168.1.1 (cambialo con quello da te scelto.

@@fabriziobau3076 di nulla - fai attenzione che se hai assegnato indirizzi ip statici ai tuoi device, se cambi l'ip del modem non riesci più a dialogare con loro in quanto sono su di una rete diversa. Ad esempio se hai tutto con ip 192.168.1.x e cambi l'ip del modem in 192.168.2.x lasciando i dispositivi sulla "vecchia lan" non potranno dialogare

You can use almost any router as a gateway. No USG needed.

@@75ss You can setup UniFi Controller (software run on cloud key) on almost any other device. There are deb files for Linux machines (for example using raspberry pi as a controller) or even an option to run virtual server on a Windows machine. After setting everything up you should be able to run network without a controller but you’ll be missing out collected data, metrics, backups and ability to easily update the firmware so it’s highly recommended to have it running.
