a very nice update. we're having some big building works taking place later this year, and we're going to run ethernet everywhere for a proper wired network and cameras. was already looking at Unifi for the network and protect, not having h.265 always put me off as it is so much more efficient. I am now one happy man.

Is it possible to trigger the PTZ camera over to an area of interest when triggered by a fixed camera? Say I have a fixed camera and a PTZ in my front yard. Fixed camera on driveway gets a detection and makes the PTZ that was looking the other way swing around and get a different angle on the detection.

Cody, I agree with you 100% the 10 seconds is definitely not a good threshold and it should be enabled to go down to one second. You may not remember me but we met at the Ubiquiti World Conference and back in the Panasonic days of doing security camera systems 15 years ago we used to call it Stampede mode and we would set preset positions for those Panasonic PTZ cameras and in some cases we only wanted them in certain positions for two or three seconds so this has to be fixed by Ubiquiti

I am hearing that when in patrol mode auto detection doesn’t override patrol mode for the PTZ. Is this true? Do you know if they are coming out with an update for this?

We have to activate patrol manually?? Yea that’s useless when I’m asleep or away. How hard is it to make a camera that has auto PTZ? Motion sensors are cheap, throw 4 on it for all 4 directions and it turns itself. Making it into 4 cameras. Thier 360 camera was a smart first step but still missed the mark. Multiple lenses cameras would be the easiest to build. That stretched image cannot be used in a court of law in the U.S. because the image is distorted.

Does anyone know if there's a way to turn down or disable the chime within the G4 Doorbell Pro? When someone rings the doorbell, the device itself chimes extremely loudly and I'd like to turn it down or disable it altogether. The volume there is too loud while the volume on the actual chimes is too low sometimes.

I was looking into getting an nvr with five to six cameras for home security. Can you access playback directly from the nvr with a mouse on the tv? Looking for local access setup only. Seems complicated compared to current cctv setup. Thank you in advance.

Nope, webpage or app only. It's a great setup. I love it so much more then the older setup you are talking about. We still have a bunch of those at some of our offices and its a pain. I have a Unifi setup at home and I love being able to check on the house but have have the fees like I did with Ring.

There’s a hdmi viewport product but that just shows what’s currently on the cameras and can cycle through them or show a grid however you want to pre set them up, it doesn’t let you control them directly. If you want to pan/zoom etc you need the app or web browser, so a raspberry pi or something connected to the tv would do it.

How good is the Person Detection with ubiquity? I want to take down a fence (we live in a high crime area) and setup cameras rather to alert me if there is a person detected. Just a bit worried about how good the detection is?

I have been very impressed with the person detection. It is fast and accurate. I turn on push notifications when I want to verify a person is at my door. I have been using this feature for about 3 months with G5 pro and G4 pro cameras.

As long as you have one of the cameras that support that you’re fine. The g3 cameras and g4 instant don’t. It seem to work pretty much 100% of the time unless it’s pitch black and too far from the IR illumination. It also has great options for vehicle detection or just movement, all of which can be configured for different areas of the coverage. (So any movement in this area but only people in that area etc).

Love your videos! Could you please just show the UI without the overlay of your webcam? It is distracting and it always happens that you cover parts of the UI I am interested in. Thanks! :) They have to make PTZ patroling continious, so that it does not stop at the presets and allow us to control the speed at which it moves from one position to the next. Also.... custom rintones for the chime... c'mon Unifi ;-)

bug found, when clicking on a shortcut in full screen it exit full screen ......very annoying, and i have a lot of video lag/buffering in playback(live), only 1 frame every 5 seconds, g3 flex and g5 bullet no problem, only on my g4 bullet and g4 doorbell
