Great video…this is the first I’ve found that walked through the setup from start to finish. Unifi’s documentation when I tested this with a UDM Pro and a UV-Touch was horrible and I ran into issues; however, your video showed me where I made an error. I don’t understand why Unifi doesn’t create a KZbin channel explaining the setup for this stuff. Would certainly help alleviate some frustrations. Thanks for making this Cody.

You may know this already, but when changing port profiles on your switch, if you use the old UI, you have the ability to select multiple ports at the same time.

Hey, Yup I do know that I use the classic controller 99% of the time. Was just showing it in the new controller as lots of people will be using that. Thanks for the comment though this is helpful. I hope they bring it to the new UI soon

Yes, you are not required to have a number subscription. You can just use the system for internal calling (extension to extension) only.

My big question is and I am sure this is to early to tell.. can TALK work between sites via the site to site tunnel or does it have to VPN in etc. Eg: I have a Dream Machine pro at my house and at my office. I have a site to site tunned established. Can I put a phone at each site and extension call between? Would be nice if there was a way to link the TALK feature from site to site.. I know the Gateway typically is the first problem.. Not sure if special routing is needed etc.. What are your thoughts? EDIT: I was told as long as there is a tunnel you can change the inform port on the phone to go to whatever Dream Machine is hosting the your TALK and it will then be able to be provisioned by that unit and added to your TALK client users etc. I wish I had the equipment to try. ( Phones not available in Canada )

I try to deploy this to a job but it didn't go well. I needed to keep restarting the Talk app or the whole UDM. hopefully it gets better

Do these phones answer/end the call when you pick up and put down the handset? Or do you have to use the touchscreen for everything and its just a dumb stand? The latter would be extremely annoying.

Did you also needed to create some internal firewall rules for Communication between your default VLAN and VLAN33? Or do you have interVLAN enabled? Because i can imagine those two need to be able to reach each other on specific ports for the Phones to be recognized by the Talk software.

Are you sure that for each additional telephone line subscription purchased that it pools all the minutes together to make the combined minutes available to any line or does it still limit each line to just the 3k minutes each? ie, if I purchase 3 telephone lines with 3 different numbers, that all 9k minutes would be available for ANY line to use? Such as line #2 could therefore use 5k minutes, line #1 uses 750 minutes and line #3 gets the remaining 3,250 minutes... Or is each line stuck with only the allotted 3k and not pooled minutes??

Thanks for the video Cody. I've been trying to setup Talk with phones on their own vlan and It was working, but I would run into strange behavior (date/time incorrect, console would display the devices and then not etc.) so I submitted a support ticket and was told by Ubiquiti that the phones have to be on the same vlan/network as the console running Talk or you will run into problems. Have you installed Talk phones on their own vlan and not had problems?

Nice video very informative. When you setup your system did you have to configure talk to use UDP using the console? I was having issues making calls and ended up having to edit the talk.js file using nano.

We would have to create a custom port profile so our phones go in the voice VLAN and then the data goes in the Data VLAN Ill show that in the next video

Also that way PC's connected iva passthrough land on the PC vlan. It would be interesting to see if Unifi Phone pick that up automatically or if LLDP has to be configured in each phone first
