Unifi USW 16 POE - Low POE Budget caution

The Unifi USW 16 POE is a good switch but has a low POE Budget, Be aware that this can cause some very strange issues at night if your close to the maximum

Exactly, that is why I went for the old version that has not only 150W POE but 24 passive as well :)

Not sure I'd recommend that. The old 16-port PoE switch is known to have lots of PoE issues and who knows how long it'll receive updates at this point.

It's the baby of the bunch, I already had the 24port to swap in ready but adding lots of Poe powered bits eats it up

The USW 16 and 24's POE budget really is nonsense but I bought it anyway because I needed a POE switch now rather than later. The cloudkey gen 2 only pulls about 2 watts i've noticed.

The passive bit can be overcome with some 48-24 adapters but the budget is just low enough on this switch that in the real world you can actually hit it with very few devices

Hi, Consider Wire distance and terminal equipment expansion (usw-flex) before buying, so should I choose USW-24-POE or US-24-250W in 2021?

Depends mostly on what you need to power, the Gen 2 is quiet and has the LCD so if you don't need 250w then normally it's fine

Hello, what is the power support for 3 AC Pro's? And maybe in the future some camera's.

Ac-pros use about 5w each on average, cameras are the real killer for this switch as even a G3 Flex uses 6-7w when the IR is on, so this switch would be able to cope with about 3 AC pros and 3 camera s, before you are at the POE budget, if you run a cloudkey G2+ on it that's 11w+ so cuts down massively on what the switch can power

Haven't noticed any issues using 32w or so G4 bullet, u6 lite, u6 lr, ubb, usw-flex mini x3

Your probably at the upper limit of the switches POE capacity, mine is sat at 14W with a G4 Bullet, AC-M and the UI Floodlight off, but jumps to around 30w when the light is on

Yes, in all honesty if you need more power than this switch provides a 24 port would probably be a better fit anyway
