the scene with Picard and the kids had me in tears, was so beautiful.

I had forgotten what a wonderful scene this was, perhaps the best in the entire movie. Surprising in a very subdued way, rich in warm colors with a beautiful, perfect score. Both Picard and Guinan at their best.

The older I get the more I understand why Soran desperately wanted to get back here. The Nexus is perfection made manifest, all dreams achieved, all wants fulfilled, all anxieties tranquilized. And it was real, not a simulation or a manifestation but real. Real time, real history, real existence, just an alternate one.

I'm convinced a real Kingdom of Heaven exists! Jesus (Y'shua) spoke of it! All anxieties are tranquilized there. It says in the New Testament that there won't be any more tears. No more death. No more suffering at ALL there. Jesus spoke of Heaven & Hell. There will be a Judgment Day. Basically, eeryone past a very young age sins in this world. We would all be in the most serious of trouble without forgiveness. Jesus willingly took upon himself the consequences for *our* sins so he could offer forgiveness & eternal life in Heaven to anyone who prays to him sincerely repenting of sin, asking his forgiveness, & inviting him to be their Lord (to obey) & their savior. It's true.

well, at least the way it was dipicted onscreen it was not real. As opposed to the Matrix. With random time jumps there is no reality because it's like life is just playing with you. But if you could have whatever you wanted then of course that would be the dream.

every-time i watch this scene as i get older, the more it resonates with me. The decision Picard had to make to leave.....man thats a difficult one. You start to see that Soran might not have been the bad guy he was made to be....just corrupted by this possible gift and never wanting it to end
@AJ-yw7hf19 күн бұрын
Yes, I can see how it can resonate more as a person ages. Yes, a difficult decision for Picard to leave. But Soran WAS evil. Anyone who's so selfish that they don't care who they kill or how many they kill is evil.

Their chronology is all screwed up even without the Nexus lol. Guinan first meets Picard from the future in Time's Arrow when the crew of the Enterprise go back in time and meet Mark Twain (I love that I get to write that sentence that would make no sense in any other context except maybe Doctor Who haha). Guinan didn't know Picard then.Then the show Picard messes that up by having Picard meet an apparently even younger Guinan at a later date.

@@jedsithor Yeah, I never understood why they couldn't have Whoopi Goldberg play the part as the 21st Century version of Guinan. Visually, it would've maintained a consistency. 🤨

That whole nexus thing was strange. What they described, could be like Heaven. Nobody, NOBODY wanted to leave it, except Picard?? Plus if you're inside the Nexus, how is it that they got pulled outta there by freighter ships?! And of course Picard having a Family, as if that was his one true wish in life? The movie sure did have some holes in it.

Rene's slightly puzzled reaction to "go on without me" seems like the confusion of an alien benefactor wondering why their ward would refuse the blissful existence being offered.

After this movie Picard is still in Nexus. You can not leave the Nexus so easy. They use the Nexus to leave like a time machine. And when he leave why Picard jump not to begin of the movie, saved his family lifes and arrested Soran direct?

well.. there are those who think (and would like to think) that everything from this moment on is still in The Nexus... that Picard never left. Everything from *Generations* (and the rest of the *TNG* films) is Picard's fantasy: saving the world, his crew, getting revenge against the Borg, maybe making up for the fiasco that was the Native Indians/ Wesley leaves with the Traveller episode (in *Insurrection,* he fights _for_ the colonists, as opposed to simply "obeying orders"). Even *Nemesis* is about Picard fighting against a corrupted version of himself, who seeks to destroy everything he cares about. You could even say that the *Picard* TV show is a reflection of his fears as an old man (not even realizing his aging is all in his head like "The Inner Light"). Even the finale where Picard's mind is transferred into an android body could symbolize Picard's body being destroyed by the energy of the Nexus and existing as conscious energy. It would also explain the nostalgia of Season 3 as well.
