Uniformation GK3 Ultra Review Does Size Matter

I like it...printing with it at the mo on the RS but happy with it in the gk3

I want an ultra 3, tired of filling, sanding and fitting parts.. These printers are really back ordered right now though. I prefer my prints in 1/4 scale so I can see the eyes I am painting. My eyes aren't what they used to be.

yeah i get it completely, i hate capes and bases lol - just make sure you have something big enough to clean and cure the printed model :)

I have a GK Two, and I like it. The GK Three Ultra does appeal a lot and I was tempted when it was announced. However not sure i can justify the effort to afford one at the moment. I will see how I feel in a year or so and consider it then.

I have a GKTWO and a GK3 on its way. My problem is that I also have an M3 Max. This one is going to be sold to make space. From my experience if you can afford it then it most definitely is worth having a larger format resin printer. I've had far too many times previously where capes were a problem and it became very annoying. This way with no fitting together your pieces come out far more accurate.

I think the problem with large format printers is as I've said in the video you need large format cleaning and curing Solutions you need more resin as you tempted to build bigger and also failures will cost more is more resin will be lost large resin printers do have their place but they're not for everyone and most people can get buy happily with a smaller cheaper printer and cleaning curing Solutions

Got my GK3 this weekend, still fiddling with calibrations myself. But I did want to call out a couple of things that you touched on: 1. The build plate can be hung in the middle for smaller models in almost the way you hypothesized, except it tilts front to back. Check out the top of page 18 of the manual. 2. There is a 1.1.9 firmware update out, but I had to get it from their web page - like you, the firmware update screen on the printer never showed anything. I didn’t notice any big differences after installing it

Thank you for the review. How tall is it when the cover is opened and the heightest point while opening the cover? I have an 80cm tall enclosure, so I dont know it will fit. Thank you.

It's just under 80cm open.. Only just but under

@88RunnerBlade I opened it up so that it went horizontal which is absolutely perfect for 3D printing and getting your stuff out I didn't push it to it's Max so it may be a little higher but 80 cm would be enough to get in to it easily

Opening to horizontal is 80cm enough to get at print easily..it may go slightly higher but you don't need to

I'm happy with my GKTwo. Even though I print mainly 1/4 scale statues, I find that I can print about 90% of what I need to on the GKTwo. Some larger bases that are too big, I can still print in 1 piece FDM on my Bambu P1S. That's why I'm not buying a GK 3.

I am going to buy a GKtwo soon, i wanted an upgrade on my anycubic ultra, and i want to be able to print just a bit bigger then i can right now lol! The GK3Ultra seems cool, but i still print indside my apartment so i only have so much space i can give it, and i already have an anycubic wash and cure station so i wont be able to have space for anything bigger.. The GKtwo seems like the best choice for me, and the ultra seems wonderful for people printing large pieces ^^

You won't buy it anyway because now you have it anyways :) GK3 is all around better than GK2 even if you want to print miniatures, first and foremost it can print more at the same amount of time, secondly it does this with better details(26 microns on gk3 vs 29 on gk2), if you have gk2 it is clearly better to wait and don't rush for printers for a little bit because tilting vat is most definitely will also get it's way into next jupiter(and maybe next uniformation printers as well) and if it will be built with the same screen as gk3 it will give better details and do it faster Can you please tell, what kind of sealant is applied to the lid(white self-adhesive strips on the sides)?
