Love Steve's videos on these niche phones. Finally not slamming it for being something it isn't. If I wanted pro photos I would need to have spent more than $200 for sure. Not sure if anyone else has been using this as a daily driver but my Slim keeps dropping off of WiFi, or else shows the little "x" (no internet) next to Wifi, regardless of whether I am trying a 2.4Ghz-only network, a 5Ghz, or 2.4Ghz/5Ghz network (3 different APs; last one uses same SSID for both frequencies). Contacted Unihertz and they sent a link to a 2GB firmware update but I can't tell if it took or not (where would I see the new version info?)

Ideas: plz be more specific. You mention social media but while discussing it only open the clock. Load up fb, sample the scrolling speeds for us, load up a YouT clip and let me see how quick/smooth it is, etc. Stand by time you wish could be better - what does that mean? How much does it lose overnight? 5%? 10%?? Pic samples were great, from the few quick samples - I can't think of anyone who'd accept those shots, unless they absolutely do not care about the camera.
@StevealiciousTech2 жыл бұрын
The clock was a mistouch but social media was opened up on the first video with scrolling, I wasn't going to go into it again. The drain isn't specific. There is no set amount it goes down per night but it drains a little faster than regular devices and the Pocket. This device isn't meant for the camera.

Many thanks for this video! Yes, I'm very happy with this phone; I find it an improvement over my BB Keyone, and also over my UH TP. I like my Pocket very much, the form factor, the build quality, but the screen is really too small for 2021/2022. The TS slim on the other hand feels, and certainly is, a modern 2022 smartphone. Looks very much like the Blackberry KEY1 for the buttons on the sides. But, there are slight differences in the keyboard. The form looks very close to the KEY2. I am using a KEY2. I am on its third battery since the last 5 years I have the phone. I hope I can keep on getting batteries for it as they die. For using the keyboard my preference was the KEY1. For performance my preference is the KEY2. The camera on the KEY2 is excellent and does the job very well. I am sure the quality of construction, and the security level would not be like the Blackberry device. I was informed the Samsung S21 Plus can replace the BB phone for security and performance, but no keyboard.

But they DID slap a keyboard on a really budget device. 720p screen and budget chipset. Come on. That's the whole problem I have with it. I love a keyboard, but we're in 2022. The last time I had a screen like that, it was over 10 years ago. This will suck with videos, surfing etc
@StevealiciousTech2 жыл бұрын
But it doesn't suck with those things...you can't compare this to other devices. You just can't. Maybe you are someone who wants a keyboard but wants to do those things heavily but a lot of people, as you can see by the comments, enjoy it because they aren't worried about that. The 720 display is fine because it's 4.2 inches. You won't even notice it and the chipset for the price is fine. The performance is good. It's one of the cleaner Android 11 experiences in that price range. Very smooth.
@vmbo2 жыл бұрын
Why can't I compare this to my Key2? I truly want to believe you, but could you maybe make a video demonstrating how apps like Google maps function? My key2 already struggles with the screen size, performance-and resolution with those kind of apps. Same for browsing heavier sites. It's not just me, most people use their smartphones more than their pc's these days.
@StevealiciousTech2 жыл бұрын
The Key2 was $800 dollars on launch. This is $300. I don't say it in this video but I've done several on the device and yes, those things you struggle with on the screen size with your Key2 you struggle with here. That's not going to change. Browsing is fine but the resolution is the resolution. It's not the 720p that's the problem. It's the aspect ratio. If you like your Key2, this is it...this is the upgrade. But understand you make tradeoffs for a keyboard device in 2022.

so $320 for a crappy phone with a minute screen and a keyboard with keys too small for a squirrel monkey and it isn't even water resistant so get caught in the rain and it's kaput. No thanks, you can get a top draw smartphone with a 6.5 inch screen for less than that heap of poop that looks like something from the original Star Trek TV show! But hey I guess there's a lot of masochists with money burning a hole in their pocket right now! Christ, this pathetic heap makes an iphone look like a fair deal!
@StevealiciousTech2 жыл бұрын
That's not the point of this phone. Of course there are options that are objectively better for roughly the same money. But there are people who want a keyboard. You can't compare this phone to other androids.
@platinumplum2 жыл бұрын
@@StevealiciousTech Well I am comparing it to other phones. In my personal opinion the keyboard is ridiculously small (which is why I've never purchased a blackberry phone from the day they were released until now) and second it's not water resistant, third the screen is too small for what you're paying and fourth $320 is too much for this. I accept it's a niche product and a niche product only appeals to a small amount of the marketplace for good reason. If you want the keyboard then it's for you, but no water resistance? No headphone jack? Many android apps don't recognise the keyboard input? Low to mid range specs? small keys = cramps in the hand over time. I could go on but there are so many downsides to this phone even if you like the squirrel monkey sized keyboard that doesn't work for all apps and will give you painful cramps after extended use, so yeh if you're a masochist it's a plus I suppose! $50 as a first phone for children is more like what this is, not a full time phone for adults.

@@platinumplum If you've never owned a BlackBerry then this phone isn't for you. Basically it's for the older generation of folks who lived thru the BlackBerry era and like the tactile feel.
