This is a brief demonstration on starting a U1300L in 10F or -12C cold weather. This was a stock U1300L with average batteries.

Had to cold start them in the army during winter in similar conditions. -20C or more. This one started pretty well. I remember having to cranck it for 30-60s seconds at least with full gas and then having to floor it for a while otherwise it would stall. No ether of course. Fun times

Thanks for making this.! It seems a bit of an art and I was doing it all wrong. Guess I will have to wait until next year to try again.

What model is this one?

U1300L with OM366A engine. I've started them in colder than that. -20F -28C is about as cold as I've done without ether. They are definitely reluctant but they usually start without ether at that temp but they need good batteries. With a shot of ether I've started Unimogs at close to -40F -40C although it sometimes takes a few tries. They definitely don't like the cold but I've never not been able to start one because of the temp, even with tired old engines with lots of hours.
