In a world where high-tech football boots are in demand, you can understand why Nike, as well as other brands, would try to "innovate" on just about everything. However, sometimes innovation can go too far, to the point wear feel and experience gets sacrificed. Case and point, the Nike Tiempo series. It went from a simple kangaroo leather football boot with some tech, to a tech-filled football boot with some leather. Some people like that, but many have been calling for something more simple. More pure. Well, your wish has come true.
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Nike Tiempo Legend 9 Elite, a football boot that despite some interesting marketing claims, offers the most simple Tiempo experience we've had from the line in quite some time! From a tech perspective, it's borderline unimpressive, but when it comes feel and comfort, Nike have done a lot of good here! Apart from some durability issues, I miss the Tiempo Legend 6. Probably my most comfortable boot i've worn, and as a goalkeeper I loved taking goal kicks in them

I say from the Tiempo Legend 5,6 and 7 were impressive while the legend 8 was great but got overly complicated with that flyknit/quad fit thingy. Glad Nike went back to the drawing board with the Legend 9 but with some great changes

Despite new technologies footballboots are not really getting better. We have seen a few brands making their boots a lot more simple again. The Tiempo and Puma King Platinum are really simple boots, Copas and Premiers are still relevant and Mizuno are just making small changes to their formular and their boots are still awesome. Knitted boots have been the latest thing from a marketing perspective, but they are not automatically better than synthetic boots. Adidas are making boots that are similar to the F50 Adizero again and the latest Vapors have a synthetic upper aswell.

The only boot in history made in a size 15. Out of necessity (mondo feet) I will pick up a pair but I'm glad they've gone a little more traditional with the style and design. The Tiempo Legend 7 in a size 9,5 weighed just 200 grams, (so this ”lightest ever” is false marketing, look back at an old SR4U video to see the weigh in), also had the leather feel and an extremely good lockdown. I would say that was the peak Tiempo in terms of both tech and traditional feel.

Hard to compare real leather to the synthetic kanga-lite material found on the Maestri 1 and 2. These overall feel more padded on the ball, and ultimately don't feel much at all like any CTR360 model.

If you fit in the .1 and more importantly like the way they fit/shape, then you'll most likely be fine in the laceless model. Hard to say 100% until you have them on your feet though. That's the tricky part about laceless boots.
