I sorta understood for a long while why some people were weirded out by lick smacking and mouth sounds in ASMR content. It seemed strange to me also that it was somehow a relaxing ASMR trigger. I didn’t understand why. ... ... But after vids like these, it’s no longer strange to me. It makes perfect sense. If we are descendants from these adorable creatures, then it stand to reason that remnants from our evolutionary ancestry would be present today. Especially since grooming was a significant part of our wellbeing and life for a very long time. If this was how it was done, makes perfect sense.

@@tafarijaygaming1807 some species can live 40 plus years and they are never house broken, that’s 40 years of changing diapers and having your house smell like they monkey house at the zoo. They make awful pets and a vast majority are dumped in sanctuaries when they reach sexual maturity, and that’s after they’ve been neutered and had their teeth pulled out. According to the US fish and wildlife service 90% of monkeys owners fail within the first 5 years. Species like macaques have a special hatred for small children and will attack for no other reason than it amuses them. And the shit flinging, yeah that isn’t just a myth. They’re illegal in most US sates, Europe and most of Asia to own as pets for good reason.

Monkeys from different troops can be exceptionally brutal and barbaric toward each other in actuality, same as humans and many other animal species when in competition for survival with other groups or species. To pretend as if humans don’t innately have those same instincts for survival is kinda silly to me. We just express it very differently or in a more abstracted manner. We also are self conscious in a way animals aren’t and that does complicate things, but it also allows us to deviate from primarily instinctual and biological drives to pursue meaning and reason which are a phenomenon unseen elsewhere in the animal kingdom. Still, I would agree that this video was wonderfully peaceful and pleasant.☺️
