I do agree. I think lot of people are used to be “programmed ” to considered something Interesting, funny or ir deserve attention ONLY if is delivered in Joe Rogan style (oh Gosh..oh my Gosh.. no way and the like). By the way i also like for some cases Joe Rogan’s style. But Is necessary be open to other style for the sake of the ideas of the content

@@Hebraiske I am not a Physicist, therefore cannot speak with any certainty, but I think it is disingenuous and/or ignorant of you to claim that it is only Eric Weinstein who considers Edward Witten as on of the brightest physicists currently alive today, as both non-Physcists, but also various Physcists apparently concur with this (Perhaps saying that he is clear-cut the "smartest" is being hyperbolic). I am not one to idolize any individual, so it is weird for me to take such position, but it would be nice if people would tend to stick to facts, even if you do not particularly like Joe Rogan and/or Eric Weinstein.
@stavshmueli6932
@stavshmueli6932 Жыл бұрын
@@Hebraiske @Michal Milanowski I think it is futile arguing with you, because I do not think you are arguing in good faith but rather to win an argument. I'd just note the following, in case I am wrong about my assumption: 1) Smart and Bright are basically synonyms, so you are factually wrong (Also, what did you try to achieve with this line of reasoning in the first place...?) 2) I actually agree with you that it is indeed frivolous, in addition to being outright ascientific to decisively conclude who is the "Smartest". However, despite this truth, as humans, being the competitive animal that we are, tend to look for "who is the best / greatest / smartest" in a particular field, and Ed Witten's name has indeed come up multiple times. A quick Google search of "Who is the smartest Physicist alive today" would reveal that Ed Witten's name comes again and again, as the first pop up is his ownnWikipedia article, in various articles, such as Scientific American which does note that fellow Physicists do compare him to all-time greats, in the calibre of Newton or Einstein, as well as multiple forums (including Physics forums, some of the members of which we can make an educated guess are indeed Physicists). It is undeniable that he is indeed included in the conversion as one of the "smartest" Physicists currently alive today, and absolutely not only by Eric Weinstein, regardless of the fact that such discussion could never actually produce a definitive answer, he is definitely regarded as highly intelligent, no matter your metric of measurement.

I absolutely intend no disparagement towards Dr. Witten when I share that I battle insomnia and will often pull up one of his lectures in order to fall asleep. The truth is, it works! I can often drift off within about 10 or 15 minutes. To me, it is as if he is speaking, a foreign language, which I hope someone out there actually understands. And then, at the end of the day he folds up his briefcase, climbs into his flying saucer and goes home:-). Peace.

In this monologue (hardly an interview since there are no questions) Edward Witten reiterates his view of the Physical World at the quantum level: nothing new for those who already attended his lectures or his lessons but for me is always nice to hear him speak and his words never make me sleep. Perhaps it could be a good idea to re-introduce Math as an obligation for anyone who wishes to achieve a University degree (Euclid's Elements have been required of all students until the 19th century): it could only strengthen brains and help them keeping awake 😊.
