Sad thing is in the second job all that debris is most likely from the house build on either side! Here in Tamworth NSW it was really bad until the council started to shut down building sites if they didn’t have their rubbish in a skip bin. And all soil dug up had to be re-distributed on the same site unless that builder was using it as fill on another site.
@mavv70882 жыл бұрын
I used to do several vacant blocks for a group of developers over time, and while I think you are right, I also think it is a case of many people thinking a vacant block is a waste transfer station. My other pet peeve is builders who believe that covering the rubbish with a couple of mm of soil gets rid of the problem. Makes it very hard to do any landscaping with all the broken bricks and roof tiles just under the surface. This is more common when they have had to knock down an existing building to build the new ones.

Cutting the wrong lot reminded me of a time back in 1990 when I was out of work. The Government had a scheme whereby you could earn extra money on top of your unemployment benefits by helping out in the community. I signed up and all went well for a couple of weeks. Then the 4 of us get sent to weed and trim an old couples garden. They were quite surprised to see us, but were happy for our help. We were there about 2 hours when the supervisor turned up to tell us we were at the wrong property and should have been at no. 37, not no. 73.

Despite the wrong block - great work. I’m sure the neighbours were happy.

I am sure the neighbours were thankful. It will stop tipping if people see it is looked after? In the UK, desperate to get back gardening but the weather is awful. Our town gardening was supposed to restart last week (we volunteer for 2 hours every Sunday) but not able to start yet. Have bought a battery operated edger/trimmer with some mean blades. It comes with 2 batteries of 45 minutes charge each. Should be a great asset 😇

Your kindness never fails Tim. Even though it was mainly grass, it looks to me somebody dumped building rubble on a vacant stand which is not acceptable!! Nobody saw the culprit? I did love the black border fence that was put up with the wooden boards at the bottom, it looked very smart. Hopefully the investor will come and get the stand built-up shortly or put it up for sale. Your work will never go to waste, mistake or not. Take care, kind regards.
@jamesalinio52772 жыл бұрын
Everyone makes mistakes Tim, some of us more than others, that being said, you did a bang up job getting that building lot under control, it's a shame that builders just dump debris wherever they want, even here in North America, especially sub contractors, I used to work with a trash company in North Carolina and I can't tell you how many times I found construction debris in places that it isn't supposed to be, or in the wrong receptacle, and then there are the home owners that throw stuff into the receptacles that doesn't belong in it, people don't care just so long as they don't have to pay for it to get hauled away, great job as always Tim

You are clearly a role model. You just roll with the punches in life and move on. That looked pretty darn good for what you had to work with. Beautiful job Tim, from sounds of it whoever complained to city council about you prefers it too look trashy. I'm having something similar except with the city. I've left numerous notes on neighbors house to clean yard up & nothing. So once again I just took it into my own hands & took it to the ground. Looks alot better 100%. City sent me a fine & I went to city & showed them before & after pictures. All fines dropped & tenant received a fine from what I heard due to the fact tenant complained cause I mowed his yard?! I just know when you want to help someone & they don't want it just not to do it again. But I will mow it again to keep the neighborhood looking nice already talked with the landlord about it & terms are good. Tenant was suppose to be taking care of it & decided to let it grow like a jungle.

Something similar happened to my neighbours recently. An entire landscaping crew turned up and started working on the grass, weeds etc. After 10-15 minutes the owner realised people were there and came out. Someone put the numbers back to front on the job sheet - wrong house! The company seemed really good though and finished bits they had started to leave it presentable at no cost
