Am sure there would be extensive cracks and damages left on the street surface where the train tracks are countersunk. The sheer impact of from the loco is enough to cause these damages. It is heavy rail we are talking about, not the tram rails or light rails. The mammoth steam loco weighs many tons and is much heavier than any light rail vehicles. Anyway, it is really interesting!

These are regular gauge tracks, not light rail. The Port of Oakland gets a lot of their rail traffic through these very rails, and Amtrak.
