Union Pacific 844 meets Southern Pacific 2472 and Old #3. Three steamer meet.

This is the first and most likely the last time these three steam engines will ever meet. UP #844, SP 2472 and Dollar Company #3. On April 22, 2009 all three steam engines met for a short photo and video shoot to help promote the Golden Gate Railroad Museum and the Niles Canyon Railroad. Visit their web.

Thanks trainboy. I've found after doing my first train DVD (see preview of new SP 2472) that people hate music or love it. The 2472 DVD had sections of both. There's a segment where the engine has stopped on a curve with a heavy load. The wheels slip every time the engineer tries to start up. We happened to have a HD camera mounted right behind the drivers. It's spectacular watching those drivers slip. I wouldn't think of using music in that section of the video. Again, thanks Don

With this scheme, the 844 looks more like a passenger locomotive than she did in the Greyhound scheme. I still like the Greyhound scheme though.

@@cambridgeh.lutece6658 Uncle Pete only allows its own steamers to operate over their lines, with the only exceptions I can think of being the 4449’s runs over Union Pacific trackage in 1976 to catch back up with the rest of the American Freedom Train after having work done to it in Omaha in a doubleheader to Cheyenne with the 844(4) then onwards to Ogden for the 4449 with a UP diesel in front of it for cab signals, I think, then again in 1999 to get to and from Railfair 99 at the California State Railroad Museum, but those 1999 runs were under BNSF insurance, I think, and trackage rights. Other then that, I’m unaware of a foreign, as in non-UP operated, steam locomotive or even vintage diesel locomotive operating over Union Pacific trackage.

This is a long, long shot. All you would have heard was wind. There was no engine sound at all from that distance. This would be very boring to watch with wind sound for over a minute of the video.
