What an impressive sight of UP 844 pulling freight trains by it's own power and double heading with UP 3985. Love this video.

This just proves why the 844 is the Living Legend, and which UP needs to use this engine more often

Amazing video of Union Pacific 844 in her 8444 greyhound paint scheme! I love that she was pulling a baggage car and an entire freight train without the use of a aux tender! That’s what she was made for!

UP 844 is a handsome steam locomotive that has an impressive operation history of hauling many famous excursion trains, I always enjoy seeing footage of 844 in operation. The black/ graphite paint scheme is a typical scheme for steam engines, but the 844 has a handsome and unique appearance while displaying the "greyhound" paint scheme which looked excellent on Union Pacific rr passenger equipment.

One of the prettiest paint schemes on the UP roster, it’s disappointing that it’s gone but reasonable considering how much maintenance it takes to maintain it.

A very nice video. I was actually fortunate enough to see #844 up close in 2019 (for the Golden Spike 150th Anniversary), and have an HO scale model of her in her Greyhound paint scheme.

The 844 is the loudest gray engine of Wyoming!

It would be pretty cool if 844 got painted gray again, but if it did I think it should only stay a year or two as it got way in both keeping the engine clean from what I heard.

Has nothing to do with cleanliness, its just expensive and time consuming to have a tricolor scheme rather than uniform black

I prefer greyhound 844 to Normal 844, just a great paint scheme that you don't see nowadays. I think 3977 is the only engine with the greyhound paint today

How come when steam engines pull freight now it's only 20-30 cars? The 90s really were the height of excursions.
@jordanalexander615Ай бұрын
She's pulling alot right here. And unless it's a big locomotive that's been modernized they won't go crazy with more cars. Most likely because they require a diesel for dynamic brakes.

Modern freight cars are considerably larger and heavier than cars from the 1950s
