Union Pacific save a disabled Amtrak train - N scale

A loong time ago, likely prior to the turn of the century, I had a similar situation which was borne out of 'necessity'. Back then, I was running O Gauge trains on floor layouts constructed throughout the house while my parents were enjoying weekend trips to Atlantic City (casinos). On one such occasion, I was running an Amtrak train comprised of six heavy Amfleet coaches (they were made of aluminum) pulled by an E60CP electric made by Williams Electric Trains. This locomotive at the time was built with a single can motor powering only one truck (bogie) and it being a rather inefficient RS540 type motor, it demonstrated a tendency to overheat and weaken, or at least require more voltage than my transformer could supply to maintain speed. In any case during one such session, this motor weakened to the point that the train actually stalled, and to complete the run, I brought in a Conrail diesel with twin RS385 motors to couple onto the E60CP, and tow the train. Because the E60's motor had weakened to the point of stalling against the train's weight, just pulling it with another locomotive allowed it to rotate without binding its worm-gear drive, so the diesel was able to move the entire consist at a normal speed. I have since re-powered and dual-motored the E60 with smaller more efficient flywheel-equipped motors (the original RS540 motors were too large to fit under the E60's pantographs ...which resided on a lowered section of the roof, necessitating a single-motored design), but it's been decades since I last ran it.

Why 3 baggage cars? That would be extremely unusual, but of course, never say never!

Because UP requires a minimum axle count in the River Runner line, if the set is too short, UP signals might not recognize the train. @Simply Railway explained that in the last Missouri River Runner video
