Union Pacific Tracy Deadline with an SD60m Cab Tour!

The Union Pacific Tracy Deadline stores these locomotives: SD70m, SD60m, and SD90. There’s also a Cotton Belt GP-60 that is tied down there. It left before I arrived in Tracy.

*2023 UPDATE* All these engines have been transfered to Roseville. All the SD70Ms have "NIGX" reporting marks and are in major disrepair. Most likely some will be scrapped.

Union Pacific is returning all the SD70M’s in storage to the leasing company. About 20 have already been sold to. Several short lines.

@@davidstewart5694 no, not all. Out of the 1000 UP has, a good 200 or so were leased to them by EMD (cant remember the exact number), and their lease expired for them so theyre heading back to EMDX

Southern Pacific only owned 25 SD70M's (9800-9824) while Union Pacific initially ordered 1,000 SD70M's before making more orders later on after the merge. The original SD70M's are finally being retired and scrapped.Only the next phase units with flared radiators and notched noses are being left alone,including the units that are under warranty and leases with EMDX.

Is UP retiring their Dash 9's? I'm surprised to see so many SD70M's here, but then again, AC traction is becoming more popular. I hope they rebuild some SD70M's into AC traction.

Union Pacific's C44-9W's are slowly being rebuilt into C44ACM's.The SD70M's are finally meeting their fate and being scrapped.Mostly,the first run of SD70M's are being retired,the next phase units with the flared radiators and notched noses are the only units being spared.At that,the only original SD70M's that have been given other chances are the ones under warranty or have been on long term leases with EMDX.

@@Railfan9743 I saw a UP dash 9 with a lot of SD70M's in a train yard In Utah and trains pass by and use the yard like it was a normal yard when I saw them it made me think it might be in Storage or is just sitting there to be used if UP needed it. Adding that up I saw 2 UP SD90MAC's 3732 and 3730 in another yard in Utah in April of this year 2022. On May 1st I saw a UP Manifest with nine engines some where SD60M's 7 engines in the front and two DPU's in the middle, UP AC4400CW 6032 (leading), and trailing was a UP SD70M 5005 , BNSF ES44C4 7987 , UP SD60M 2291 (with 3 tri windows), UP SD60M 2322 (trailing with 3 tri windows), UP SD60M 2245 (also with 3 tri windows), and a UP SD60M 2446 (with the 2 windows). The 2 DPU's in the middle were a BNSF ES44C4 6839, and a UP SD70AH 8825. Feel free if you don't believe me. I wish I could send a picture but idk how and I'm on a laptop.
