Denver needs to enact laws that enable the police to arrest these people for being intoxicated in public and in the other offensive activities they may be committing. Endangering the public safety cannot be allowed to continue. The main offenders here are drug addicts that choose that lifestyle.

The basic design is horrid. Two rail stations connected by a dimly lit 1000 foot buried corridor/bus station. The underground coffin with people sleeping on chairs and using bathrooms 24/7 was inevitable. Covid accelerated the decline. Lack of meaningful penalties rendered policing futile. I am afraid vagrancy laws have to have teeth to work.

My wife and I moved out to the exurbs a few years ago because of a change of jobs. We moved at a good time, apparently. Democrats, if given enough time, will destroy any community they control. Yeah, you can complain about Trump and mean old Republicans all you want but this kind of lawlessness and vagrancy is never tolerated in the areas they govern.

It is worst during the winter because they homeless all want the trains and the public spaces for heat and sleep...except these homeless are evolved homeless with the power of crack and meth like you wouldn't believe. They will hurt you if it comes down to it or if they are tripping and you get on their way. scary stuff. Denver is comparable to San Francisco currently. I always try to get tickets to several games in a row, stay at a nice hotel, and look forward to restaurants. I also used to travel by bus, catch the train to DIA, to go to TX (family). I don't go to downtown anymore. I get to TX by flying on a shuttle flight out of Pueblo, direct to DIA. I feel terrible for the nice business people that treated me so well in the past.

First of all, let's be clear that it is not a crime to fall asleep in public. In fact, there are diseases that cause people to fall asleep. It is also not a crime to seek warm shelter in the cold and Union Station is a "public" place. It is also not a crime to be mentally ill in a public place. Spending thousands of dollars on removing benches was not the solution to the problem. The City of Denver needs to address the real problem of homelessness, which includes mental health issues, addiction issues, and shelter issues.

At least you ended your blind statement with some common sense... It is a crime to be mentally ill in a public place. Your mental illness doesn't grant you the luxury of harassing other peaceful patrons just carrying on with their day. It also does not shelter them from consequence if one of those peaceful patrons puts them in their place or calls the authorities to do it for them. You present all these minority scenarios as if that is all these people are doing is looking for warmth. Drugs and psychotic behavior play a larger roll than you are giving it credit for.

Dude they know why crime rate has gone so freaking far up right ? Bc the ones at the top don't gaf about the ones at the middle/ bottom. Six times for auto theft bc they can't afford a car. Ppl will say oooh there's help bull freaking crap there's not help!!! I've been homeless since SEPTEMBER A single female alone on these freaking dirty dangerous streets and guess what I cried to Denver county human services , Adams county, Jeff co weld co, Broomfield, Arvada , Westminster and Lakewood guess what ?!?!! I'm still freaking homeless dude still!? Noone cares about us out here !!! Real talk ! Ppl can't get the help ppl get desperate! It has nothing to do with cops being incompetent it has everything to do with those guys at the top. Check it out you know when people were actually getting help when we had unemployment when we had Medicaid when we had help eviction moratorium when we had a little bit of freaking help from the top crime rate was out at all time low in Denver check your stats and across the Nation. And you know you have the money you have the means you have it help us out a little bit you know don't sit there and say get a job get a job you know how hard it is to get a job when you don't have a place to go and rest for 8 hours for that job and to take a shower for that job and to eat a healthy meal for that job and to wear clean clothes for that job and a way to get to that job. Get a job why don't you get a clue?! It just really gets to me I used to be like you why don't they just get a job like why are they homeless why it's their own fault and they're probably just on drugs it's their fault. But you know if you think about it most people that are out there aren't on drugs but a lot of them are drinking to stay warm. And you know I've seen a lot of females that had to do methamphetamines because they needed to stay up through the night because you try to lay your head down somewhere you are a Target seriously and then they say go to the shelter which is it get a job or go to the shelter because at the shelter you need to check in at 7:00 p.m. and be out at 7:00 a.m. and I don't know about you but any job I know doesn't work around shelter hours unless you have a diploma and a degree and can get a nine to five cuz you know 70% of the population cannot anymore. But even I can talk until my face is blue I can't change any of it you know it's all about them guys at the top that's it you want to cure this crime crap don't blame it on the cops that's a nice scapegoat in a nice fall back for the men up there but the cops can't be your scapegoat anymore the nation sees through it. Help I'm screaming for help they're screaming for help she's screaming for help. And if you have to commit a crime to get three hots and a cot then that's what these people will do sounds disgusting and horrible and it is because our systems and our jails are jam-packed already we don't need this crap and the victims of these crimes don't deserve it. But desperation calls for desperate movements. So you want to know the solution Mr Joe Biden Mr Jared polis Mr or MS anybody at the top or even next to the top. Put me at the top someone hire me I could teach people a few things you know I have two college degrees I'm educated. But guess what here I am on the streets of Denver all alone and I have reached out and I have done everything I can the most I've gotten was a three-day hotel voucher. That helped I mean I was warm for 3 days but when that was done back out of there again I wass. Listen to me please things are getting so bad Mr Biden you have to help us. Come on like there's no one working at the local Walgreens so now the pharmacy closes 4 hours early in a huge City same with every restaurant and fast food around same with anywhere you go. And then we want to treat our officers like crap and we want to blame it on them and we want to tell them they need to step up their game why should they risk their lives for material things? They have families they have homes to go to but you want to put them on the front line against desperate people over material items? That does not sound responsible to me. Come up with the system do something about this bring back unemployment for gig workers bring it back help these people help us

Weak? No. This is California's policies in effect. In 3 years there'll be 3000 more homeless and the same policy will be in place. 16th st Mall will be the new skid row and the $150 million spent on new pavers will amount to pouring gold on a pile of dog shit. The only thing to look up to in the future is higher rent cost.

Well if they crack down on crime a Union Station it will end up on the trains and will then all the light rail stops will be little union stations. I live in Los Angeles and Union Station here has dozens and dozens of cops and it's became much more peaceful but a vast majority of the train riders and very few commuters are taking the trains anymore!

Hahaha, they just cracked down here in Los Angeles at Union Station. Dozens of cops and cleaners because the homeless, drug dealers and sleeping bags are now on the trains themselves. If they clean up Union Station in Denver, the thousands of homeless will just ride the choo-choo train!

Wow the majority of Denver is people of colored. The majority of homeless and drug addiction is people of color. Thanks for the honest truthful update. Hope they’ll find housing soon and received help in over coming this situation…..

Notice how the camera is focused on showing people of color. When I know first hand who the majority is. Damn shame when it's labeled as a crime when it's people of color. But for others it's OK let's get them some help. Shame on you Channel 4.

Shame on Colorado for letting anyone be homeless and not giving them help. Our elected officials say they are helping but we all know that is just talk. White or black or whatever color or race nobody is helping the homeless.

If they want 50+ homeless per train car like here in Los Angeles then clean up Union Station. Denverites talk tough and will say put them all in jail but your jail is so small and Denver is extremely violent per-capita in comparison to Los Angeles!
@FDE_Doom_Girl
@FDE_Doom_Girl 2 жыл бұрын
Right about most except crime per capita. I dont know where you got your statistics but Denver isn't in the top 10 unlike Los Angeles duude Plus it applies to all Coloradans for allowing this shit and voting democrat.

You have to fix the problem not move them somewhere else. What I see happening is Denver pushing the rift raft to the outside suburbs that black people have been pushed to. They won't fix the problem just shift it to someone else

If they don't want any help then put them on a bus or plane and send them to Pelosi's city. If the Feds can do it then so can the people of Colorado. Make sure to put the Mayor and the Governor on those same buses.

I visit this neighborhood often.. I don't ever have a problem with union station and the people they call "criminals".. they're people minding their business just like you and me.. they have no problem with us shopping at whole foods or king soopers so y do u have a problem with them? If you're the one with the problem then maybe you should leave.. don't move downtown if you can't deal with the elements that were here way before you..

These people were NOT there before taking over the public spaces. Ten years ago you could go around Union Station and feel safe enough. Schizos are always fine until they aren't, and it is hard to predict because they are not mentally well. Same thing goes with people whacked out on drugs, they can suddenly get violent and the line between safe and unsafe is blurred. I don't think you have seen what these people can do suddenly.

I was also there 10 years ago, before they legalized marijuana, it was beautiful, even homeless people are much more cleaner. After that people think Colorado is some sort of safe haven for their stupid drug addiction habbits an swarmed the city from other states.
