You know the reason why right? It’s 3 fold. 1 the obvious insurance law suits. 2 the insurance claims for stolen merchandise which I guarantee is listed at a higher price than what was actually stolen. 3 they now can raise prices across the board to cover their losses on stolen merchandise that they are already getting covered by the insurance company. Petty theft is a godsend for retailers.

I appreciate the work you do Nick. I have to mention though Colorado and Washington legalizing marijuana was a massive, long overdue development that drew in many types of people, from folks like these here to PhD students, medical professionals, lawyers, and many others. Nobody winds up homeless because of weed though but some stoners are homeless because of the cost of living. I'm one of them. I work full time and would rather save my money than hemorrhage it on rent. I've been in the workforce 20 years and finished college twice while smoking weed everyday. The problem is housing genuinely fails the cost-benefit analysis. It's gotten so out of control that the only way to be financially responsible is to cut it out of my budget.

After watching many of Nicks videos I’ve come to this conclusion: there are ruined cities/towns, red and blue but they arrived that way differently. Red: industry left, jobs gone then poverty and drugs moved in. Blue: drugs came in, homeless came, then society collapsed. Outward changes for one and the other is deliberate. Both are probably deliberate, to weaken our country and our men.
@2878cl Жыл бұрын

I love how we all keep calling it a homeless problem. Fentanyl is a big problem in CO. The RESIDENTS are the people voting to open more shelters and offer more resources rather than increase consequences, do more sweeps, make it hard to be a junky. "Their just down on their luck" "they just need a tiny home", "they just need more help". In another 2 years the problem will cause businesses to close just like in Portland and San Fran.
@hellooutthere8956 Жыл бұрын
If increased consequences was the answer this would have been fixed long ago. All that does is sweep the problem under the rug. Out of sight out of mind. While the legal system becomes a racket to put money in the pockets of the ones in charge. Look at the. Immigrants and the total mismanagement of funds. Nothing gets solved and working ppl pay more and more in taxes and cost of living expenses. You don't decriminalize crime tho and that is wht they are doing. Exactly. Hope all those who voted for these liberals are very happy now. Ugh. It's disgusting. Just FYI, Nick. Was a bit disheartening to hear you call it "Bum land." Not all homeless people are drug addicts, at least not here in Houston, although looks like it's the majority in LA and Denver, San Francisco, etc. Some of them are single mothers with kids who can't afford these ridiculous rents we've got, not to mention school supplies, food, health insurance, car insurance, etc. We have a ton of elderly people who are homeless. They've paid on their homes for 40 years but inflation and property taxes, HOA fees, etc, have skyrocketed due to Biden's policies and the Fed with their sky high interest rates, they've lost their homes to foreclosure which is extremely sad. It's a bit better here in Houston but we still have the same issues. The absolute WORST is to see homeless veterans who served our country on the streets, while that bastard Biden and his woke libs are busy feeding and housing illegals and sending BILLIONS to other countries (and taking illegal kickbacks) and the first thing they want to do is talk about cutting Medicare and Social Security. It's almost invisible to some people, chiefly the people who voted to decriminalize. Also, the Denver Metro area has gone downhill since legalizing marijuana, since it didn't attract the right people (productive members of society) but rather the "living in mom's basement, unemployed/unemployable crowd". Also, there are tens of millions scrambling from check to check to make rent and under terrible stress. Housing is one of the most corrupted and greedy businesses. The banks, realtors, lawyers state schools etc are all involved and don't give about consequences

Moved away from Denver in 2013 when most people worked for a living. The welfare in Denver has gone through the roof. And the guy in the video said he gets to walk around and live for free. It's also a sanctuary state where 3rd world criminals get to live for free.

Me too. It all started to go downhill when they legalized dope. I left and won't be going back.

Dope is bad, no matter what the government says. Too bad it takes this level of depravity for the country to wake up. Some of us have been talking about this for DECADES. Ben Franklin was right about making people comfortable in poverty. There have been poor folks since the dawn of time, but since COVID and crime lenience we have had the tents and trailers and RV’s. It’s a culture shift. Good job Nick!

I live in a rural area and there’s no homeless people. I’d rather live in the middle of nowhere than a city like that.

I moved to the Denver Metro Area 24 years ago I used to go to downtown at night in the summertime time it was nice, 16th Mall was nice it was a good nightlife and for the most part safe. But I stopped going to downtown 10 years or so ago with all the crime it's not worth it. I wonder if this could be caused by that we have had several Democrat Governors, Democrat Mayors I have another year before I will retire so I am hoping that the housing market will stay strong so I can sell my house and move to someplace maybe Idaho a more conservative state.

I wandered around Downtown Denver for about ten hours at night in ...2019...right before the pandemic. Saw no crime, nothing bad happened to me, nobody even said "boo".

I moved out of Denver in 2017, and it was bad then. I ran a glorified headshop/glass art gallery with super expensive glass, and they would camp out in front of the door I had to open every day. It is a shame what is happening to such a beautiful state.

Shame you didn't run a business that could support actual jobs instead of a glorified headshop that nobody needed.

This is very sad. I had a rough childhood, and ended up in transitional housing with severe panic attacks during the 2008 recession in CA. Once you’re that poor, there’s no pulling yourself out of it. There’s just too many things against you. I stayed away from drugs, but the temptation was always there. Life was just so slow and difficult that it’s tempting to just take any drug to dull the pain. I found antidepressants didn’t work for me either. It seems like if you’re depressed because of real problems, none caused by you, they don’t work. A job didn’t even help. Minimum wage was $6.75/hr. That’s all anyone payed. Meanwhile a single bedroom studio was $1,200. That was the low end. I should mention that I got disability due to the panic attacks. Finished my Bachelor’s in Computer Science, and I am now successfully employed Sys Admin. These people need help. Have some compassion.

Soo flipping cold..I don't see how..When I was in the Army (84), I saw Billy Squire at the McNichols arena. He didn't come on stage until way late. Me and a friend walked all the way back to Lowry AFB, right through downtown Denver in the middle of the night with no troubles. Times sure have changed.

Can confirm. As a lifelong resident of 50 years in Denver we traveled this whole past summer working for somewhere else to settle and decided on Arizona. I'm sure it's prevalent in most major cities but Denver has gone to s**t, and not steadily. It's been an avalanche over the past couple years.

I'm not sure what part, but there's a massive homeless problem in AZ too...I watch a channel that only does videos interviewing homeless people and it's in Arizona only...they never say a city name, just roads, highways, and Alley ways so I really don't know what part of AZ these ppl are in, but they're everywhere and dude puts out videos nonstop...I actually haven't seen a video for a month & I can't remember the channel name but I'll come back to this and let you know asa I see it or remember...or you can do research...I think AZ is beautiful and have always been told to live there bc I have bad asthma but regardless, there are so many states with major homeless problems, and it's only going to continue & grow so I don't think it's something many people can avoid...

Arizona is a shithole. Colorado is paradise compared to Arizona. Good luck with that. You should just leave Denver. Anywhere west of the Rockies is a shithole these days.

@Starphot Жыл бұрын
The last time I was downtown was 10 years ago on a jury call. My brother lives in another state and visited us. We went downtown to a restaurant and saw the encampments in that same area near the time you shot this. Not only the the homeless, but the new buildings and high-end apartments. I live out near the airport in a suburban part of Denver and the campers are now showing up parked next to the parks. The retailers in my neighborhood had always had certain items behind glass or mesh. More items these days. My grocer parking lot is full of beggars this season and a do-nut'in, blink'in blue light special surveillance trailer parked there. Same with the other retailers.
