Thank you for this video! I tried to explain to people that it is better to experience God than to just believe in his existence! Glad to know there's other people out there that are awakening to this truth!

I used to feel very close with God. Now I am having a very hard time feeling God's presence and opening my heart to Him.It is making life feel empty.

That’s completely normal, sister (assuming you truly are a lady), actually this is your chance for spiritual development. St. John of the Cross calls it the dark night of the soul. God has shown Himself, but then He has veiled His face. This is not a bad thing, but a gift for you, so your faith will be strengthened. Find a place in you where you see how this emptiness is actually another manifestation of the mystery of God. How He pulls you towards Himself even in what feels like abandonment. Recall Christ on the cross and his final words: ,,Oh God, God, why have you forsaken me?”. He experienced utter loss, utter emptiness, utter God-forsakedness. And yet at a different place in the Gospel he says: ,,Father, into your hands I commend my spirit”. And elsewhere “it is finished”. So you see that the moment of utter emptiness was the moment of his greatest exaltation, of actual fullness.

I was received into the Orthodox Church after seeing some of your visit Dom. Years ago we corresponded and you turned me on to the desert fathers. One thing I noticed is that after the schism we see a different experience of God in the west which is more sensual than that I read in the early fathers and the Orthodox Saints. While some in the Eastern Church had these type of raptures it seems to have become a focal point after the 11th century and can and does often lead to deception as seen in modern charismatic and Hindu type experiences. Thanks for the jump start for other novices like myself beware that we must have great discernment to know whether these experiences are of God or not.

Do we have to escape to survive spiritually?
@jaroslawslowinski69054 жыл бұрын
I am trying to find the middle way between self - nagation ( escape ) and staying faithful to our spiritual identity. Is any?
@BrotherDominick14 жыл бұрын
You already are whole and complete as Self-Sentience. Look and see, the part of you that is Aware in this moment right now, is prior to egotism, prior to escapism, prior to even faith, so when you start to Be with your Self Aware Experience, you start to rest in wholeness and completion as well as acceptance of everything as it is in this moment. Continuing to navigate in Self-Awareness, as well as Love, Surrender, Prayer life, Scripture, and all the other branches of the journey, we find that it is preferable over the Old Ways of Worldly Life and Egotism. All of this can be done as a common householder, being in a relationship, and navigating through life/the World, as Jesus said, to be In the World but not Of The World. Friend, please send me an e-mail and I will attach a recent book that describes the Path. send to snbeings @ gmail . com (no spaces, which have been added to prevent spam)

Thank you so very much DF. I just got this meditation link few minutes ago and I am now feeling my heart warm with love divine. Certainly there is something here. I am already been doing the, "Jesus's Prayer" too by the way. All these spiritual practices causes a warm burning fire in my soul, would you explain what is this "warm burning fire" presence is all about and what does it accomplish in my spiritual life? Blessings. Lawrence.

The Polish Catholic nun, Sister Maria Faustina said, "I was all afire, but without burning up … I felt some kind of fire in my heart … I was so enveloped in the great interior fire of God's love … I feel I am all aflame. … Today, a living flame of divine love entered my soul." It is part of being changed and transformed from within. A process of Theosis/Deification

The Flame of Love. Once one has advanced in divine contemplation enough, it is possible to experience an inner spiritual impression called “the flame of love” or The Fire of Love (1300s) as Richard Rolle came to call it. In this book “he describes such unusual experiences of intense heat around his heart that would cause him to reach down to feel his chest to be sure that it was not literally on fire.”11 Richard Rolle Feeling the Fire of God’s Love It is like a divine touch, but within your belly and innermost heart. It is a “holy heartburn” of the presence of God within your belly. It is a way of God making known His existence and love for the mystic. You may call it interior fire, inner fire, spiritual fire, or mystical fire. But it is a feeling of intense heat that suddenly manifests within the heart or belly; and it is the heat of God’s presence. It is not easily mistaken for natural heartburn caused by indigestion. This is not stomach acid in the esophagus from reflux. This is a comforting warmth in the belly and lower chest area; and through it, God’s indwelling Spirit comforts the emotions. Scaramelli says that it “is a certain hurt of love which occurs in the spirit alone, and has the effect of healing the soul as by burning-it is a touch of the fire of God which heals all ills.”12 I like to call it interior fire or holy heartburn. It usually occurs as a sign from the Spirit when the mystic has received a revelation from God. When Jesus explained to the two disciples the meaning of messianic prophecy, they said, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32). When John Wesley received the revelation of justification by faith, he experienced the flame of love and famously wrote, “I felt my heart strangely warmed.”
