Coming from an equine ambulatory nurse in the Memphis area. These horses look like they are well cared for. Their coats are glossy (not just from grooming) from adequate diets. Their hooves look great and they all seem alert. This is an amazing program and it will help keep kids off the streets. The 12 year old "vets" need to shut their mouths. You just make yourselves look dumb.

I am concerned for 1. The ponies teeth at around 2:57 And the way some of them ride they pull too hard and cause a bit of pain
@aislinntowne93103 жыл бұрын
@@sabertaylor7211 as I agree with you, some of them are learning to ride. Maybe these horses had more energy the day of shooting, or the riders were more nervous being filmed. when beginning to ride riders will always resort back to bad behavior if something is nerve-wracking or off. I am not 100% agree with every aspect of the video but I think it is fantastic what they are doing and I hope it continues to help young minds get off the streets.

@@sabertaylor7211 The pony could have malformed teeth, or its lip might just be caught on its teeth momentarily. Furthermore, just like people age, so do horses. Even cute little ponies become old ponies with all the less-than-attractive physical indignities of growing old. It doesn’t mean they aren’t well cared for. Where a bridle bit fits in the corners of a horse’s mouth, there are no teeth. The children are not hurting the horses as they learn to ride.

@@altereddogma as someone who rides in a bit, bits can cause immense pain in the wrong hands. And the kids hands, are the wrong hands. They should be taught how to use their hands first before thrown into a bit.

"Concrete Cowboy" 2020 was just released on Netflix. It's f*ing awesome. From wiki page: Concrete Cowboy is a 2020 American Western drama film directed by Ricky Staub from a screenplay by Staub and Dan Walser. Its story is based upon the novel Ghetto Cowboy by Greg Neri, which is a fictionalization of the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club, an urban African-American horseriding culture in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The film stars Idris Elba, Caleb McLaughlin, Jharrel Jerome, Byron Bowers, Lorraine Toussaint and Clifford "Method Man" Smith.

I think these people have lovely intentions and this guy is speaking truth. Horses are amazing and teach love, responsibility, and respect. I just think they need more funding and more education on how to properly ride and care for horses. I had three main concerns. That chestnut horse in the pasture definitely looked off in his walking. He stumbles every time he puts his back right leg down. My second was the one little pony’s teeth. And my third is that grown man riding the pony who is tiny for him. Again I think they have amazing intentions and a pure heart and I love their goals, I just think some funding and education would be helpful. The horses themselves look fed and shiny though which is awesome to see ❤

Horses will challenge a person’s authority if they sense any weakness, which is why green riders have to have gentle, docile, well-trained horses to learn to ride on. The boy was just establishing his control. He did not strike the horse. Talk about looking for something to criticize!
@somecalvinist68753 жыл бұрын
@@altereddogma your right, it looks more like he’s announcing his position by putting his hand in the pony’s direct eye-sight. The kid had curled fingers and a relaxed palm. He definitely wasn’t going to be aggressive with or got the pony.
