There are a ton of perfectly fin point and shoots but everyone wants the contax t2. I had it for about a year and its the most over priced and hyped up camera that I Have ever purchased. You have to be really careful with it cause one drop and its going to break. I had a pentax pc35af that I picked up for 10 and a thrift shop and a konica lexio 70w and a olympus xa2 and those but were amazing cameras for a fraction of the price.

Showing my age, I remember when this camera first came out. It is actually a fairly impressive piece of camera tech. That "lens cap flash" actually focuses its light output to match the coverage of its zoom lens, so it becomes much more powerful than your average P-n-S flash. The lens is also quite good for a 35-105mm zoom. Auto film load and rewind, or not if you prefer. Being reminded of it a few years ago, I ended up getting one off ebay for $15. It is quite clever, but the form of the package makes it seem in use larger than it really is. I put a roll through mine, then retired it. May have to take it for a spin.

I remember this camera also. It's the last film camera my parents bought back then and most of the pictures of me up to my 10 years old were taken with this camera! The body is still hanging around on a shelf in my family house, catching dust for the last 22 years.

I found one of these during a local neighborhood rummage sale for $5, in NA it was labeled the Canon Photura and I really love it. Really I seem to gravitate towards the strange and obscure models of point and shoots more than the more popular ones. I do agree that the prices are starting to get out of hand on some that aren't really worth as much as they seem to be selling for, well if there's a demand I suppose that will happen. Anyway, great video as usual man. See you next week.

Hey, if you were after another camera with a flash on a lens cap, to build up the collection, there does indeed exist another. Also a Canon - but an APS camera this time, the Canon IXUS Z90 Spotted it in a Popular Photography edition from 1996 just now.

Oh, I have one of these! I should look into selling it. I've also got a Yashica Samurai which is a similar idea but shoots half frame shots in portrait mode (exactly how a movie camera does). I've wondered if it could be used to make stop motion animation.

I have found the Epoca at a flea market about two years ago for just 5€! Woah, it is SO FUN to use the camera and there is one thing you didn't mention: It has TWO viewfinders! By using the viewfinder on the top, it tends to feel a bit like a TLR camera, which it is not. And honestly, thanks to having f2.8, my portrait shots taken with Ektachrome 100 look outstanding and not bad at all. I carry it around on my shoulders and if want to take a picture, i flip the lens cap (which is a similar feel to advancing a manual film lever), zoom into a group of strangers (street photography) and shoot. People do really think, that it I am just a typical tourist with a camcorder and it offers me to get shots i couldn't get with, let's say, a typical 90s SLR. Your review was good, but it is an understatement, the more you use it, the more you will change between both viewfinders, compare the image quality and eventually find out, that having a camcorder as a point & shoot is a much better concept than it looks and sounds. Feature-wise, not much to talk about, aside that you can turn off the flash.

I know what you mean about the price of film cameras. As they become rarer, break, get used to repair others etc, the prices will forever go up. Hopefully as more and more people enjoy film, maybe some manufacturers will start making new film cameras again that aren't either dog shit, or you need to sell a kidney & lung for.

I sold all my film stuff and just bought a digital camera about 3 weeks ago. I shot film for 12 years. Never thought I would purchase a digital camera but I dont really have any regrets. I really like it. Film is awesome but there comes a point where it is not worth it anymore.

Digital actually is more problematic. They are built for obsolescence: someday software/media/hardware will no longer be supported/able to be repaired. « Actuations & Shutter Count - Someday our Cameras Will Die »
@popcorny11
@popcorny11 3 жыл бұрын
@@patrickbateman6768 Yes you're right and it depends on the user frequency for the most part. One could easily do the math and calculate how often film + processing/scanning + time is in the cost per month/year and determine if shooting digital can offset all that effort. However I think if you wanna get really accurate, you'd have to realistically calculate how often gear is changed and the costs on that end. Overall if you use a good digital, don't upgrade to new models, manufacturer able to service/support the equipment for long term and you shoot A Lot per month/year.. digital will always come out on top. I'm shooting film for purely for nostalgic and artistic (or aesthetic) purposes, only wannabes pretend its anything more than that. The long term overall cost of film is definitely more today due to the pricing of good quality film equipment, as well as the effort and time. Its about being unbiased (although I prefer film by a huge extend) and factually objective because many argue points like "but digital will become obsolete" as if in practice they shoot one digital/film camera until the day they die. Honestly, if they'd actually even gone out to try 10-15yr old digital cameras they'd know that those still work great, produce better quality that they imagined and are dirt cheap. My iPhone 12 does the digital stuff because its the only thing I have that can beat film quality proportionately in price/convenience/time.

from someone who uses an M6, loading from the bottom should be normal for you? Also, the Epoca flashes used to break off all the time, think it's where they get flicked out every time you turn the camera on
