WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO
Asteroid Hyalosis are small asteroid bodies attached to the vitreous framework of the eye. They can look white or yellow white, and can resemble looking at stars in space. It can be a mystery of why it happens in some people.
Synchysis Scintillans are small cholesterol bodies free floating in the eye. The floaters can by shiny and actually look like gold flakes in the eye. This can also be a mystery of why it happens, but can be associated with some more serious eye conditions, like severe diabetic retinopathy or chronic uveitis.
The symptoms of Asteroid Hyalosis and Synchysis Scintillans can the most surprising part of these conditions. A lot of the time, people don't even notice the floaters, even in moderate or severe cases. Or they may have mild symptoms.
Because the symptoms can be so mild, usually treatment isn't needed. But if the symptoms are bad enough, a vitrectomy can be performed to remove the floaters.
