Unique footage of KLM's Orange Pride with F16

KLM flew Netherlands’ Olympic medal-winners home in its unique orange-coloured Boeing 777 painted specially for the occasion. When the aircraft reached Dutch airspace, it was accompanied by two F-16 fighter jets from the Royal Dutch Air Force.

What most people don’t realize is that the orange pride livery is special because it also represents the temperature gradient of jumbo jets’ fuselages during cruise. Most parts of the plane get very cold due to the frigid temperatures at high altitudes, but the leading edges especially the nose of the aircraft get very hot due to air friction when flying at sonic speeds! Just ask my mom who burned herself when touching the outside of a 777 after exiting!

Fun fact:it’s actually because orange is the Dutch pride colour and this plane was used to bring back Olympic athletes
