@Jenifer13091976 Thanks for the kind words, and for the support! Love the idea of hiding a big nano in the woods, ha! Our nano was made from plumbing supplies, all found at the local home improvement store, and then painted black with plastic fusion paint. Mr. UC even sanded the top to make it more like the shape of a nano. Just curious, where did you see another video of a big nano? Would love to check it out. =D

We don't give out GC codes, sorry. We posted the cache with no size listing at all. True, it's not really a nano, huh. But thanks for watching. :D

@ThatOldBiddy Thanks!! We put this cache out less than two months ago and it's the only nano we know of that has 22 favorite points already!! Most of the logs for this cache read something like "omg that was hilarious," and THAT is what makes it way worthwhile!! Thank you so much for your kind words of support!

Again a very clever Geocache :) I'm really looking forward to our trip to Florida in a few weeks. And well we're also gonna go geocaching. So hopefully we'll also find some of caches like this one. Greetings from Germany again ;)

@Zstar300 Did you watch the video all the way through? The little nanos are not the point. And, by the way, they didn't cost us anything, so it wasn't "a waste of money." Those are blinkies - little lights that have a magnet at the bottom. The very first nanos were blinkies, people took the batteries out and that left a little space inside for a tiny log. Mr. UC got the blinkies for free and painted them black.

We have a Garmin Oregon 450 which we use for saving waypoints and for double-checking the coords for the hides we put out there. Also if we know we're going to be caching in a rural area, we'll download the caches and use the Garmin. Most of the time, though, we use our iPhones with the groundspeak app. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

There have been instances where geocaches have been mistaken for possible bombs (mostly ammo cans or pvc pipes resembling pipe bombs) but more and more police are aware of geocaching and know what to look for. Responsible cache-hiders put geocaching stickers on questionable containers so they are easily identifiable as part of the game. One thing we've learned, though, by geocaching for a couple years is this: Most of the time, people totally don't pay attention to what other people are doing.

@twish1999 The big nano is made with plumbing components, which Mr UC painted black using plastic-fusion paint so it won't peel off. The top part is a cap for a large PVC pipe. This was his design and it's such a hoot, huh?!

Not too many people have made mention of swag or trackables in their logs but you're right, I would think that the inventory list might clue some folks in. But according to the logs we receive, most are surprised! Thanks for watching and for the comment!

@UniqueCaches I like the extreme challenge of a nano myself. They can be hidden in full view & be hard to find. You have hit on an awesome idea with this nano! I absolutely love it! In fact, it would be just as fun without the extras. Maybe babygorrila doesn't like them because they are a challenge & they like light post skirt magnetics instead.

It always amazes me when someone complains about a new idea and something different. Even if you HAD spent money on it, you're going to end up entertaining a lot of people with this cache. The money would be WELL spent. Great idea -- good going!

Well, for us the point is the journey itself. Geocaching has taken us to places we most likely never would have gone, to see sights we never would have seen or to take notice of things we never would have noticed. We like finding things that other people hid for people like us to find! There's a little rush when you get to say, "Found it!" We don't care about the points, we don't care about the little trinkets, we just like exploring and geocaching gives us a reason to explore.
@UniqueCaches
@UniqueCaches 12 жыл бұрын
Originally we were just going to put the cache only out there... but we had some nanos and we were *never* going to use them for geocache hides, so this was the perfect place to put them! :D

I responded to a "suspicious package" (2002) once (one of three agencies) so the others were already on scene calling the bomb squad when I laughed to myself walked up and "Opened the Bomb" and what was really funny (No kidding) there was a toy police car inside. But that was the old days of caching.
