At first glance, you may think these are just your typical boring modded Otises. Yeah, they were modded, and it's unfortunate cause according to SC Records, these were the ONLY Haughtons EVER installed in South Carolina!!! That said the mod and elevators as a whole are pretty unique for a number of reasons....
For one, Notice the Concave VR Series 3 button used for the Restaurant in addition to the other Series 2 buttons on the right elevator!!! I've NEVER seen that before, and the elevator next to it has a STRANGE, Quiet " Electronic Clicky" Floor Passing Chime!!!!
Also, even though this is a Series 2 mod, the Indicators in the lobby are Series 1, and also, notice how the 2 passengers are HOSPITAL SIZED, and have 2 speed doors while the Service Elevator has center opening doors and a regular sized cab!!!! Very strange!!! Typically it's the other way around!!
And as for the service elevator, it has the VERY RARE Red Digital Series 1 indicator you don't typically see everyday, and it has the VERY RARE Surface Mounted Series 1 Hall Stations as well as the Regular Series 1 COP typically used on Hydros even though it's Traction, and the original indicator is still inside, although it no longer works!!!!
Otherwise, these are relatively basic, but these were still pretty cool and have NUMEROUS Unique Features both listed above and in the video that prevented them from being "boring" or your typical Otis mod!!!! That said, of course I wish these were original!!!!
Also, the views up top are VERY NICE, and I do certainly hope you liked my photos I got up top as well as my street photos of Charleston that are shown at the end of the video!!!!
That all being said, enjoy a VERY UNIQUELY done mod job by Otis on what were the ONLY Haughtons ever installed in South Carolina!!!
Installed: 1971 (Haughton L Series)
Modernized: Circa 1990s or 2000s (Otis Elevonic 411M Mod with New Motors & Controllers and New Door equipment, and Series 2 fixtures on the Passenger Elevators, and Newer Series 1 on the Service Elevator. Cab was left original in service elevator but redone in passengers. Doors left as is)
