Actual Final Ride on the Early Otis Series 1 Traction Elevators at The Holiday Inn in Kissimmee, FL

After discovering these elevators were being modernized back when me and Riley met up back in January, I promised I'd come back here to check out the modernized product.
Well, it turns out I came too soon and not NEARLY as much progress was made on the modernization as I was expecting, likely due to the pandemic.... The 2 elevators that were out of service in January in the North/Back tower receiving their mod are now completed, however, strangely they appeared to work and run, but I couldn't get one to open up... I'm not sure if this is a temporary glitch, or if the elevators are just simply waiting to be tested, but it was definitely odd. And despite the 2 elevators being done, the only working Series 1 in the building that was the only working elevator back in January hasn't began modernization yet, and was still totally usable, albeit it sounds rougher than ever. But what's ESPECIALLY weird is the 2 elevators in the North Tower are done, but they haven't started modernization on the 3rd car, yet it appears in the South Tower modernization has started! Only one elevator in the bank in the South Tower was running as well, the other 2 elevators had their indicators blank suggesting they are Out of Service, and because 2 of them were out of service and one has a "No Wet Floor Sign" blocking it, I'm assuming they are under modernization, which as I stated is definitely strange considering the Back/North Tower isn't done, and I was expecting at least the modernization in that tower to be done by now.
At least on the positive side, I got another chance to ride these again, making this video my ACTUAL Final Ride on the Original Elevators here, which I was expecting was gonna be my January video with Riley.
I definitely will miss these elevators a lot for sure, but as you can see, they've gotten worse since my last visit between the doors not working properly and them being rougher than ever. It's pretty clear the hotel sadly no longer cares about these.

Installed in 1983. (Otis Older Series 1 Relay Controlled)
Being Modernized in 2020. (Oracle with Dewhurst fixtures, New Motors, New Controllers, New door Keyholes, likely new cabs, etc.)

That is one of the weirdest things I have ever seen an elevator that responds to your call but the door doesn't open I wonder why that is?

The right 1 seemed to have not been working, but the left 1 was at least partly working. It seemed like the door operator and controller weren't communicating correctly or something. Nonetheless weird. Guess it doesn't matter anyhow since it appeared that tower was closed.

The Modded ones are not ready yet so that is why they are locked out and the old one is being used untill all three are modded and are connected on the same panel

The thing is the new 1 (left 1) was moving when he pressed other call buttons. If it hadn't entered-service yet then it wouldn't have done that. It must be a door issue.

For the modded elevators, I’m guessing the outer doors aren’t connected, but I doubt that.

These places have to be hurting for money right now. Any number of money-related issues could've caused the strange goings-on there. The back tower was obviously closed off since you had to go around that barrier. Either way, those series 1 cars are still going strong for a (normally) high-traffic hotel that opened in 1984. (The back tower opened in 1985.) Hopefully things will get straightened out and that place can get back on its feet. (I'm slowly starting to rebound a little myself... been a pretty scary 5 months without work.)

How do you know the back Tower opened in 85? Based on my research this place opened in 83.

@@FloridianElevators Well, it's a small world. (See what I did there?) I actually stayed here on a trip during college... must've been 1992. (It was a Travelodge then.) So my curiosity (and OCD?) got me going last night and I ran across the following info about the property. But I was tired last night. @@Dana_Danarosana LOL I get the joke. And thanks for the info, that's pretty interesting!!! Do you remember these elevators and if so, have they changed physically prior to the ongoing mod starting? Looking at that, the Tower labeled as opening in 1985 is actually the Front Tower where the lobby is while the one in the back was labeled as opening in 1984. I do think that the place opened in 1983 as numerous sites say, but it is definitely possible one of the towers was an expansion. Also, I noticed one of the towers was listed as having another elevator than just the 3 in each tower. I'm guessing one of them has a service elevator.

@@FloridianElevators EVERYTHING was wood panels in 1992. I'm fairly certain these were too. But they were most definitely Series 1.
