Thanks for really giving an idea of the process of growing from spores! I don't know if I'll ever try it with my own, but knowing what goes into it only makes me appreciate mine more 😄 Will add more than my current 2 to the collection in the future, more species on my wishlist than I can reasonably fit on my walls 😆

Love this video.. I saw some seeds last year and recently. It is difficult to find valid and fresh seeds here in Europe. (My first patch of 4 kinds all grew small plants, but then thrips killed them all. Now I'm starting all over. Would love to see the private collection of Dr Chong

Hi Lone, thanks for this episode .. it's really informative! Started to collect them in 2023 but I m still new to platycerium. I have some questions and hope that you could help answering them: 1) I usually spray seaweed fertiliser and/or foliage fertiliser on their fronds and the inner part (behind the wooden board). Is this the correct way of doing? 2) I have 1 species (don't know the name) with a pup taken out. I placed the pup in a covered container to provide more humid environment for it to thrive. It has been in there for more than 3 months but it has not been growing fast and some small fronds withered and new ones came out. Should I place it outside i.e. out of the container ? 3) I have a matured Grande (i think), but it has not been doing well lately. I can see many ants inside the inner part and the fronds within all dried up turned crispy, some part of the basal fronds turning black, and it stopped growing. I m wondering is Dr Chong able to help diagnose what problem with it? Perhaps I can visit him with my platycerium?
@aloneinoasis11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your time to watch the video!! 1) It would be more effective if you submerge the platy in diluted seaweed fertilizer. 2) The pup will thrive better in evenly moist media and grow in better light condition. Also, freshly mounted pup takes longer time to acclimatize. 3) Hmm. Grandae need a lot of light to thrive. They cannot do well under partly shade environment. Ants are co-exist with platycerium, it shouldnt be a problem. Unless there are aphids and other pest problem ya.

Hi, I recently bought a platycerium superbum. It hasn’t developed fertile fronds yet; it only has three shield fronds and the newest one is only 3 inches in diameter. I’m having trouble figuring out the orientation in order to mount it.

Hey!! You can look at the other video of mine. How to Mount Platycerium on Board. I did a brief about the orientation of Staghorn tho.
