Miss Jan, thankful you are home and are on the mend!! There is no place like your own home. It is 9pm and just finished with my ham. It is absolutely delicious. My husband ( the guinea pig) loves it. Put my ham in a 6 quart crockpot and cooked it on low for 9 hours. What a great recipe. Thank you!!

You weren't kidding about "you'll never believe this." That was the craziest way to cook ham as I have ever seen. I am sure I would like to eat this, but wow, all that good ham broth that could have made delicious gravy to cover mashed tators just going down the drain or wherever. But I know I really love a mustard brown sugar sauce on ham so I just might give this a try. Especially if I can find ham for 99cents/lb! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I love watching your videos even more than cooking and eating! And I love to eat!

Hello Ms Jan, I'm really excited over tonight's video. The reason being is that I've never cooked a ham before, and I just know I'd love this one. Where in the world do you come up with ideas like this one? You are truly something else! I can't wait for the next opportunity to try this recipe. I have a feeling my family will love it! I may even make it for our next church dinner bc I'll bet they've never tasted something like this ham recipe before. I just love telling people about my Utube friend Ms Jan who is cooking up a storm in her country kitchen in North Carolina! I have to tell you Jan, that meeting you one day in person is on my bucket list! I hope that's ok? 😇 I've learned so many life lessons from you and not just recipes from watching your channel as you cook away in your little kitchen. You've made a positive impact on my life Jan, and from the bottom of my heart I'd like to thank you for that. You are one of the sweetest, most kind, and genuine people I've ever seen on Utube ,and it has been through your kind and humble demeanor, you are teaching us all to be who the good Lord created us to be! Because of you, I've been better able to accept myself as I am, and not hide behind any phacid. I hope I spelled that right. There truly is a special place in heaven for sweet, genuine people like you. You are truly one of a kind! I do believe when the Lord made you, He broke the mold. I love and appreciate you Ms Jan. My Grandmother pickled beef and yes it sounds crazy but it was good. She used pickling spices and vinegar and she pressure canned it. Wasn't corned beef it was a different taste. So your recipe looks delicious and I would never think you ruined a dish Jan. 🙂❤

I've never made a ham with vinegar before but I have used vinegar for corned beef. But then one day I decided to put a large dollop of vinegar in the water that I was making a regular pot roast in and it gave it amazing flavor. No one could put their finger on why it was so good and different but it really was good. I think sometimes we under use vinegar, just the plain old white vinegar. Absolutely love your recipe. Love you God bless, Shirley.

Jan, strain and fridge that cooking liquid overnight! Skim off (and save) the fat next day to use for pan-frying potatoes, eggs, veggies, anything. Then freeze the strained liquid in 1-cup or 2-cup amounts in freezer bags to use as ham stock in bean soup or potato soup! Or ham BBQ, pulled pork or chicken, beef BBQ, or Sloppy Joes. The vinegar will have mellowed and sweetened and lost its acidity after 7 or 8 hours of cooking and will be pure flavor. That stuff is GOLD!

I bet the broth would make really good flavoring for sauerkraut and still add in some of the brown sugar and dry mustard. Also, you could put down a layer of the kraut, place the ham on top and follow the rest of her recipe!…Serve it on toasted rye, with thousand island dressing or more mustard/honey mustard and a slice of Swiss cheese melted!…Kinda like a ham sandwich done Reuben style!

The broth would be delicious for cabbage soup, equal parts broth and chicken stock, you could also use it for lentil soup, put a cup in to cornmeal and make water cornbread, all kinds of dishes. Nothing goes to waste. I would put the broth through the blender to make it creamy and use a cup like in pinto beans, cole slaw, potato salad. You get the light vinegar taste and that luscious ham taste.

Wonder if you could use the “pot liquor” for cooking greens like kale, collards, cabbage, etc? When I cook kale, I always put cider vinegar in with the water. This would have the added flavor of the ham. Freeze the rest of the liquor in small batches for the next time you do greens.
