This car was left under an old pine tree in a back yard of an amazing old fellas home. He could never part with the car because it had something to do with his brother, I'm not 100% sure of the details but I'm pretty sure his brother passed away. Uncle Ronnie bought the car on the terms, that old mate could come and visit Ronnie and drive the car when he was fit to... There is an amazing write up on this story in the unique muscle car magazine..

"Here's the keys. Treat it however you like." Now that is saying a lot for a 40 year old car.

I too had an XY GT and back in the 90's decided to give her a workout on that very same stretch of twisty tarmac, from Ferntreegully to Lysterfield, in those days the road was not as good as today and damn nearly lost it a few times, talk about getting your attention. The guys that drove these weapons at a 140 MPH around our iconic race track at the time, LEGENDS

Ronnie promised the seller he will keep it the way it is. So much history behind it, amazing.

great old car, nice review mate, the comment on the steering ratio, , i actually don`t mind it , all these bloody modern cars are overly direct , you have to correct the bloody things all the time(bugger rack and pinion power steering), the oldies are perfect for cruising . long live the GT !

So much character. I hope its never restored. Driven and enjoyed as is.

Look at the Patina on that thing, awesome! I am tempted to try and keep my restoration looking Patina, but I think it's more effort than actually just painting it up properly.

I built the engine for this vehicle, the "infamous bushmans GT", it was swapped out some 15 years ago at Bombala racecourse, the car runs a phase IV Crow cam, 60 thou O/S forged pistons, and before everyone says oh yeah sure you did - visit my facebook page (glen coughlan) and verify all the build photos unique painted parts & check them with the engine - I got the original motor for the rebuild of the replacement engine the car now runs. The sump is painted as per the rebuild in ford blue whereas std they are black. Glad to know at least the motor is still going strong I built a monster with that block and the components. The car was promised to the son "Aaron" but he got shafted on that one.

I didn't know Bombala had a racecourse. I lived in delegate about 8 years ago

+Glen Coughlan 060? How many sleeves does it have? Many strike water at 030. An engine I would never bore more than 020.

So much better to see a genuine GT, patina & all, out & about looking & sounding magic, than a falcon tarted up as a GT.

I love it how it is, and yep "ratty" is a good description. Can you share more on the history of it and where it's been etc, and what's happening with it now please? A yellow ocher GT came into our workshop in the late 80's, went off road through a barbed wire fence, everything was scratched but car was dead straight, owner said I could buy it for $17 thou as is, couldn't do it as just bought a house, I would've loved to have it, was just a basic GT but I wish I could've!
@glencoughlan22093 ай бұрын
I still have the original engine on a pallet in storage. Engine now in car was built by myself, I added a kill switch under the shaker!!!! Proof to what I claim!!!!! Painted the block in ford blue engine enamel, present engine carries a crow phase 111 cam.

Love it. It obviously gets used as it should and if it's not rotting away any worse than it is, who gives a rats if he keeps it looking like that? It's not like it's going to waste. I love seeing old cars that have obviously had a hard life given a quick freshen up and then used properly. Aside from lack of funds, the other half of the reason I haven't really done anything with the exterior of my EH (although it's nowhere near as bad as this) is because I can get it out and use & abuse the old girl. Nothing better than 4 wheel drifting around the local flat track or chasing much newer cars around race circuits in a 50yo Holden!

That doesn't surprise me. I've driven an XE Falcon and an EF falcon on several occasions and they were good to drive. One occasion i drove a commodore from the 90 's, not sure which model, but it drove like an old school car.

For me, I liked the way the Fords held the road and I am talking early 70's.. showing my age, later model cars are a different class altogether, old cars is different rules.. When I want to step back in time... :)

Yep a peace of shit really and to have Non Vic roads compliance plates tells me, that the running gear would be all re done and then left in the shed to rust away and make it look like its a real barn find a 50 + year old car which has never ever been on the roads lol , easy ask vic roads when it was last checked for a roadworthy which will tell you when it was last had everything done basically from new ? and how many times as well ?
@pitman29115 жыл бұрын
Man all i can say is you wish you own it ,check out some actions how much XY GT HO are going for you be shocked. Recently been to one got sold for 1.5 million not bad for a car that was 5-6 thousand brand new

@ldnwholesale85528 жыл бұрын
+Donny Topping THAT is what a Cleveland sounds like. Probably the best sounding V8 around old or modern. They make plenty of power though are a poorly oiled and cooled heavy lump. Standard they are fine, but try making more power and that can change without extensive mods.
