Terrence Malick's cinematographic beautiful love story of Powhatan princess Pocahontas/Lady Rebecca and John Rolfe.
It's a pretty realistic portrayal of their biographies and some history as well, when the conquistadores started to colonize and occupy the once utopian country of the Native Americans.
I really appreciate the beautiful poetic lines, the innocence, the nearness to Mother Nature and the beautiful soundtrack by James Horner.
It's one of the few beautiful innocent romantic movies which in my honest opinion actually portrays realistic feelings and expressions in a similar situation. I think it is a story about true love, not being an infatuation such as the story between John Smith and Pocahontas, but more like that of the story of Rolfe and Pocahontas, because they grew into loving one another and accepting each other despite their previous lives.

A beautiful love story? Pocahontas was 12. She was sold to John Smith to endure years of rape by he and his men. She watched her tribe die terrible deaths. After all of that, she was shipped off to England and died of small pox. Don't let Disney skew your view on history.

hello, that was a very interesting view, I agree that one should not accept the romanticised depiction of Disney, yes you may have a point, I was referring to this movie being a beautiful yet tragic lovestory, not the historical accuracy. I haven't found it yet, i remember someone else was asking for it on the soundrstack page, it's not at least on the ost, perhaps it can be in some other soundtrack version, since there's an extended version of the movie as well. Good luck! :) tips! check for piano covers... if i remember correctly "Rolfe proposes" track on the new world soundtrack has some segments that does remind me of that piano piece...try that one out! peace

Silver54ful I love the innocence with these two. If you have not watched the extended version, there are at least 3 scenes with Rolfe and Pocahontas, why they were removed I wonder since they were so beautiful :,)
