Where is this? I wish there was a bit of information as to where this is exactly. For me this would be a great way to hunt. I'm an Australian and we have Wedge Tailed eagles, probably not as big as a Golden Eagle, but still very large. I've seen them take out goats in the Flinders Ranges in my state of South Australia. Unfortunately a few decades ago farmers would shoot them because they killed sheep. There was a story of a female that was shot and she had a wing span of 12 feet, so the story said. This would be such a good way to hunt, these ppl are very lucky to be able to do this

This is something of a counter argument to Kelline Pickett's post... The biggest advantage for longevity of a species (at least for about the last 5,000 years) is being useful to People. This has never been more true then it has since about the early 1800's and world wide industrial revolutions that proliferated that era. Considering deaths from exposure to toxins, power lines, aircraft strikes, poaching, and even decreases in wild breeding do to loss of habitat and nest disturbing. This is a darn good fit. Birds like this, with this kind of training can help to keep pests off of farms, birds off of airstrips and the like. Because they are useful to us, their survival is assured. And, no doubt, we are altering them. They are learning to be group animals. Their descendants will inherit a genetic memory of working together. Because, the more cooperative birds will be the ones that are breed for such desirable traits. And, so where this species might go extinct in the face of human expansion. In a future where we are perhaps kinder to the world we inhabit, their descendants may be introduced back into the wild. And, because of their time with humans be far more likely to succeed.
@rinrin0rikuriku10 жыл бұрын
Agreed. By the way she is speaking, we should neither own dogs, cats, or any sort of animal. In fact, we should probably stop eating meat and vegetables because all of these things that we take for granted are often the production of years and years of modification, both behavioral and genetic.
@longshipventures10 жыл бұрын
I guarantee these birds are better looked after and lead a much more fulfilling life than Kelline's shitty little dog or cat that never gets let out of the house and gets to do nothing of use to anyone. You notice the birds don't just fuck off when their handler runs up to help it? They're a team, and the birds choose to stay with the handler. Given half a chance, your braindead shih-tzu would run out in traffic while you frantically called it from your doorstep, just to end it's pathetic, miserable existence.
@The1Helleri10 жыл бұрын
Rusty Shackleford That seriously brought a tear to me eye I from laughing so hard. Brain dead shih-tzu running happily into traffic to end it's pathetic life...good stuff, lol. And, a good point too. These are wild animals. And, their traits as wild animals are what we find desirable. So, they are not in any real danger of ever being inbred. We are never going to see a tea cup eagle in some woman's purse (something that literally shivers from the simple act of actually being that ridiculous and living). We want these to keep their wild streak and hunters heart. And, we owe them a good life for the fact that we have made it harder for them to have one on their own. And, you can't just turn these things loose, either. Eagles mate for life. They probably see their trainers/handlers as their mates. If some radical environmentalist 'sets them free' their condemning the birds to a level of stress that will probably kill them. like I said before. this is a good fit. A role in which we can coexist. And both of the species benefit.

A friend and I discovered a nesting pair of golden eagles preying exclusively on sharp tailed grouse and prairie chickens. That was a real eye opener for us, as we are both fly Jerkins at prairie grouse, and know how challenging they are to catch. Wild eagles are incredible!
@kevinbarksdale78978 жыл бұрын
I would sit here and hit LIKE for ten minutes straight if I could. This was very incredible. I actually had goose bumps watching this. Your choice of back ground music was perfect as well. These creatures are beautiful both in flight, and perched. Where I live we have a good variety of birds of prey. One of my simple pleasures in life is watching as they circle in the sky. It also a thrill to see them fishing. Though sometimes they can be very annoying. I once watched a bald eagle bring a salmon out of the river. The fish had to be at least 20 pounds. The eagle took it to the top of a dead tree on the far bank. When he pecked at it the fish jumped, slipping from the eagles grasp, and feel to the bank. For some reason the eagle did not retrieve the salmon but took off instead. When my oldest was 6 years old I took her fishing at Galesville Reservoir in Oregon. Ospreys were out over the reservoir circling, my daughter asked what they were doing. I explained they were doing the same thing we were, looking for a good place to fish. She asked me how they caught fish without fishing poles. One of the ospreys we were watching answered her question for her. We were both amazed how long the hawk was under water, but learned why, the salmon was HUGE. The osprey came out of the water flying towards the far bank, but the fish was so heavy and fighting hard the bird was having trouble getting off the surface of the water. Thankfully I had my binoculars that day as we were able to watch the salmon be taken up to the top of a tree where the osprey had a nest full of little ones.

@flohh10 жыл бұрын
Everyone who comments along the lines of "wow you disgust me how can you kill innocent animals like that?", you need to use your brain, and realize that the eagle wouldn't be a vegetarian in the wild. The only things the people in the videos do is help direct the eagle's, flush prey, and end the suffering of the animals.
@kaewgigliuto240710 жыл бұрын
You could just fly the eagles and buy them some chicken at the end of the day. I do it with a kite I found when it was young, no need for it to kill anything, the fucking supermarket is full of chicken, duck and turkey that have all been humanely killed.
@flohh10 жыл бұрын
wtf does humanely killed even mean? Theres no such thing.
@flohh10 жыл бұрын
Only if someone/something is suffering and you use lethal injection or something like that.
@onclebob217810 жыл бұрын
Kaew Gigliuto Eagles are hunters, it's their nature: birds of prey! Giving them supermarket stuff not allowing them to hunt is against nature and stupid!

I like the concept of man and eagle tag-teaming to bring down deer. The eagle can find the deer and catch it but probably can't bring it down, but all it has to do here is slow it down enough for the man to catch up and finish it. Great video

Awesome video. The place where I hunt reindeer......(Norway) it is golden egales in the wild. They hunt reindeer now an then. Calves are no match for the egales but the adult ones are more tricky. They puncture their lungs and wait until the reindeer is dead. Easy meal. The golden egale are great birds and great hunters as well......again.....great video.

Falconry a majestic practice with an almost religious overtone. One does not just do falconry, one lives, eats, and breaths it. To establish a true partnership between man and raptor without the illusion of ownership, this my friends is true falconry in its purest form. I hope one day to accomplish a partnership between myself and a magnificent raptor, to be able to call myself a falconer.

AMAZING! Why didn't the bird continue to attack on the rare misses? just asking are they trained not to?
@850smoke10 жыл бұрын
its a rare miss bcuz eagles dont hunt from the wrist of a person..throwing them in the direction of running prey takes away from thier hunting process..they are not getting enough time to stalk their prey so they are not really hunting at all..one of the most popular reasons ppl own exotic pets and animals(snakes, ect.) bcuz they like to see/watch them kill and eat..these guys are just watching these eagles making a kill then eating..they are not really training them to do anything..this is not an amazing short movie..its just great golden eagle footage with handheld cameras or maybe a cell phone :/
@arriviste202010 жыл бұрын
850smoke What a brilliant conclusion to arrive at. Right up there with the "fact" that, according to the theories of dynamic flight etc, it is impossible for a Bumble Bee to fly,.......but the Bumble Bee doesn't know that!!! Bright as Alaska in December:))
