Unit 2: Working in Health and Social Care - Exam walkthrough (H&SC BTEC Level 3) Jan ‘20 📝📑

Following some requests for a walkthrough the exam paper - I have taken a look at the January 2020 exam paper and discussed how I would approach and answer the questions.
I'm not a examiner or involved in the creation of the exam paper - I just discussing my thoughts and plans on how I would approach questions

Hey Alan! I’m doing the unit 2 exam in may. Is there an opportunity to resist the exam if you don’t get the grade you wanted as I know there is for unit 1? Thanks!

Yes, there are normally exams in may & January so if the summer one doesn’t go the way you plan, you could sit it again the following January.

Could youdo a video on how to write the questions for a effective 8 marker? I did a PPE in the bulletpoint of how you did it I got two marks for discuss questions because it wasn't in a paragraph

Thanks Bill, I will put this on my list of videos to make. In this video I do bullet point lists as my planning and discussion of what I would include. In a full response I would write in full paragraphs with explanation of the points I was making.

There is a unit 2 exam tomorrow. As far as I’m aware (unless the government changes anything) all exams should be taking place this year.

On question 2 will it get marks for being a disadvantage even tho it states advantages?

On 8 markers you could present the other side of the debate as a brief bit of evaluation. But I would try to make sure a majority of your response links to the question.

If I get a poor percentage within this exam,will I still get a good grade? How high/low will the grade boundaries be?

Based on the previous years grade I would say roughly the boundaries could be something a bit like this: 26% = near pass 40% = pass 53% = merit 68% = Distinction

No the marking system for BTEC is near pass -> Distinction

for 1c you only wrote on paragraph for a 6 marker which isn't helpful at all, would be more efficient if you did 6 points and evaluated it

Hi Avi, Thanks for your thoughts. From my experience 3 or 4 points with a link to the case/ question is a better way of picking up the marks in this question. However, if you prefer a list, I look at the mark scheme towards the end of the video which provides 6/7 suggested ideas.

Speaking and typing is a tricky thing to do. Normally prefer to type up answers in advance so I can double check spelling as I have mild dyslexia (but even then mistakes still get through). I am trying to improve this. Glad you liked the video though!

Sorry this is a distraction to you. YouTubing is a hobby rather than my actual job, so my set up is pretty basic. Hopefully you still found the video useful.
